“Needs an update”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

While the location of this hotel is good, close to subway and lots of different fast-foodish options, it has some gaping faults that detract from the experience of any traveller (for business or pleasure).
The hotel is dreary and dingy and desperately needs an update, the hallways smell like dirty and old hotel hallways..maybe the carpets are musty. There is no bar of restaurant of any kind: if you arrive later at night, you are skipping dinner or you have to venture out into the neighborhood (not the best, but I will get to that). Breakfast is a sad affair: no eggs or other hot items, just cereal, bread and bagels with a toaster and plastic plates/cups/utensils. Sad.
A scary looking guy tried to sell me drugs on the corner near the hotel. This makes me think that the neighborhood is not so nice, or bordering on sketchy. Would not walk around alone at night, as a woman.
The good points that save the experience from being a total failure? The staff is very kind and helpful, and the maid service does a great jobkeeping the dingy rooms clean.
There must be something better at this price!

We arrived at the hotel after a long flight. Checked in really easily and the staff were very helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet even though it was facing onto the road. The information on Washington and the local area available in the room was really helpful and helped us to find some good local restaurants. The location is brilliant with the metro really close and you can walk down to the main Washington sites. There was quite a lot of variety for breakfast compared to other continental breakfasts I've seen. They do use plastic plates and cutlery, but the food available was great. A great hotel for a city break!

Hotel is well placed with only 5 minutes walk to the subway, restaurants, bars etc but in a quiet street. All staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful, rooms were big and ours had a nice view south. Cant fault it, excellent value.

My friend and I do a yearly road trip. This year it was Washington, D.C. I picked this hotel because it was within a block of a Metro Station. The hotel was great! My friend is alergic to down so the staff was asked to replace all our bedding with non-down bedding. It was quickly and efficiently done. The morning breakfast selection was good. However, do not expect there to be a cafe in the hotel. It has closed. But we ate out every evening without ever eating in the same place twice. Withing a few blocks you could find just about any cuisine you wanted. The park in Dupont Circle was great for eating an outdoor lunch and people watching. With the Metro so close you could get anywhere within the DC area easily. The price was good for DC, under $200 a night. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to see our nation's capitol.

booked this hotel at the last minute. found it to be fine for what we wanted. The room was small facing into the courtyard, if I were staying longer I would have preferred a room with a view.

Breakfast was fine if basic. there is a bar in the hotel but dont be fooled its not open and we didnt manage to find out why. it would have been nice to have a drink there after a days sightseeing.

the hotel is just around the corner from dupont circle.

staff were helpful and friendly.

The pros: best location. Two minutes from metro. Great diverse restaurants everywhere. Safe neighborhood. King standard room was very spacious, clean, and updated. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Room rate was incredible so don't complain about the minimalist free breakfast. If you want more, take the money you saved on the room rate and go outside the hotel.

The cons: parking is expensive at $35 a night plus $6 tax, but lots in the area are more for overnight parking.

This was a great value for what I paid.

The room is just fine. Average size, wide bed... No complaint. However, if you expect any additional services: sorry, not there.
If you get thirsty at night, there is no mini-bar in your room. There is no room service either. If you're lucky enough and have enough change, you can use vending machines on some floors.

Breakfasts are really poor. (Self-)served on plastic plates. Very limited food choice... Just cold food and no ham at all.

Located 40 secs away from the Dupont Circle subway station. A lot of homeless nearby.

Business center extremely expensive: 0.59 USD/min = 35 Dollars per hour !!!

If you have no expectations beside getting a good sleep, stay there.
