“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This Hotel is in the best location possible, surrounded by shops and plenty of places to eat from cheap to up market. The area is full of people and is the heart of social activity in DC.
Close to everything only 7 blocks from the White House and Metro stations to all attractions if you are not a walker.

Great Bar and great staff, very easy place to meet people.

Room Tip: The Hotel is first class but make sure you ask for an outside room above the 6th floor. Our room was...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Nicely appointed and well located hotel, accross the circle from the Metro. Pros: Clean, great staff, contemporary look, love the heated floor in the bath. Lots of marble. Comfy bed. Free newspapers. Within a block is a CVS, a few simpler fare restaurants, Starbucks, quiet residential streets. Cons: Bath is open in part to the bed area; didn't bother me, but might some couples. Room somewhat small but well laid out. Shower only (glass/marble, clean). Housekeeping knocks on your door at 8:00 regardless if you have the do not disturb lit. Drinks in the bar terribly expensive ($16 for a martini), shrimp cocktail was watery and tasteless, caesar salad was excellent with shaved parm and lots of anchovies. Bar staff flirted with the singles, so it was hard to get staff's attention.

I would stay again. It appears to have been completely remodeled with quality materials. I'd give it five stars except for the bar food and staff. I didn't try the restaurant, but with a city with so many great restaurants...

Room Tip: Street side verses courtyard side. I had the courtyard, which was quiet but no view.

Hotel staff very courtious and take very good care of guests. They even braught my car around for me when I wanted to use it. Free morning coffee was a nice touch. Walking distance from metro buses and subway train stop. Also around the corner from tour bus stop.

Room Tip: Bring your own trash bags if you are travelling with a family. Trash cans in the room were quite sma...

We were here at Thanksgiving 2012 with two girls age 10 and 12. Loved the atmosphere and style of the hotel! Fun bar and lounge area. Nice rooms with little seat. Bathrooms very stylish with a lot of (white)glass. Meaning if you use the toilet while someone is brushing at the sink you can almost see each other. Not everyone may feel comfortable with that. Overall a beautiful hotel in a great neighborhood.

Great hotel. Clean, fresh, contemporary rooms with wonderful service by all staff members I encountered. Very good bar too, with a happy hour worth taking advantage of. It's also an easy walk to the DC Metro.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

This place has style but the service and the quality of the stay don't live up to it. I was there for 4 days of business and slept miserably, due to the very antiquated heating/cooling system, which made it feel like staying in the middle of a whirring blender. Both bed and chaise lounge were too 'soggy' soft to be comfortable sitting/sleeping on and shutters instead of shades or curtains wouldn't stay open/closed as needed/wished, all very irritating when you need to concentrate.

Location is great but the only staff who seem to be on the ball are the doormen, who were very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Front desk staff were worse than clueless -- within minutes of checking in the two credit cards I'd produced had both been entered in fraudulent transactions and when I complained, I got no answer. (I"m not accusing the staff, but clearly the IT system is not secure, as I hardly ever use those cards and the timing coincidence was remarkable. I pointed this out and got no answer whatsoever, I specifically asked for this to be written up and referred to management, and evidently that wasn't done.)

Housekeeping also seems very slow -- I came back at 4-5pm one day to change before the evening, and nothing had been done, even the room service tray had not been removed.

I liked the wet room style bathroom and underfloor heating, but the bedroom style didn't really work as it meant the TV and mirror were both directly in front of the bed, which isn't very nice (bad feng shui! :-)

Their food and drink is hilariously overpriced and they charged me 24 dollars one morning and 31 dollars the next morning for the identical breakfast. Also no explanation and no apology!
Overall, next time I need to stay in DC I will stay somewhere less pretentious where I know exactly what we're getting for our money, this was relatively pricey and not worth it ultimately.

I'll be intrigued to know if management pays more attention to this review than they did to my (calm quiet businesslike) requests during my stay.

Had a great stay in the Dupont Circle Hotel. The hotel is right off the Metro red-line (Exit Q street). We were able to take the Metro from the airport almost to the door of the hotel.
The room was small, but well situated. There was a desk and a lounging seat by the window. I really liked the shutters. We were able to decide how much light we wanted in. Also - the windows opened and it was great to have some fresh air.
The tiles in the bathroom were heated, much to my delight.
The staff were friendly. The "do not disturb" light on the door tag was cool.
It was a little noisy at night, but it was not so loud it disturbed me or my husband.
While in the neighborhood, there are great restaurants and shopping. We also walked to the White House and to the National Christmas Tree.
The bar at the hotel was a happening place, if only we had more time while in town. Next time!
