“Decent for price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

I had a short stay for a day in the Days Inn. The hotel staff was courteous and respectful. The rooms were clean. The AC made some noise and need repairing, but it did not trouble me much. Overall a nice, clean and cheap place to stay. It was 1 block from the metro station.

The help was decent. The television in the room (228) did not function well. The tech came in to attempt to fix it, but ended up bringing in a new television. This did not help. The picture still cut out and froze, especially on the local channels. Some of the desk help was cordial, but one of the ladies (African American, didn't get her name) was a bit snooty when I asked about the restaurant and didn't quite understand that the one that she said was "next door" was affilitated with the hotel.

We arrived a little early but we were offered a seat and use of the tea/coffee making facilities in the lobby. There is also a PC that you can use free of charge which was useful to us for finding directions etc. Our room was basic but clean. There wasn't a view but we were not fussed as we only wanted it for sleeping. The staff seemed a little confused and frazzled when checking people in, they didn't seem particularly well trained. WARNING at a lot of hotels you will get charged $50 for incidentals as they did at Days Inn, unfortunately they forgot to mention this to us at check-in. It does get refunded when you check-out but it can take up to 28 days for your bank to release the money. There is an ice machine on each floor and you are given an ice bucket in your room. The hotel is on a strip of shops and small restaurants. The subway is only 5 minutes walk away and you can get to the centre of DC within 20 minutes. It isn't luxury but it worked for us as we didn't spend much time actually in the hotel. The location is good and its not too pricey.

I chose this hotel simply based on price.... $53/night which in DC is a total steal. I stayed for 2 nights, and upgraded to the business class (king bed) room for about an extra $20/night. I chose to upgrade because the business class rooms include a fridge and a microwave. From what I read in some of the other reviews refrigerators/microwaves are not present in their regular rooms.

This hotel is further away from all the sites/attractions in downtown DC but the metro station is about a 5 minute walk away. The DC metro system is pretty easy to navigate and the trains come very frequently so you can leave the hotel and be in downtown in less than 30mins. No free breakfast here. There's a CVS, walgreens, starbucks, liquor store, burger king, quiznos, and potbelly restaurants within walking distance. There's also an italian restaurant right next door to the hotel, I didn't try it out so can't comment on the food there.

I didn't notice any odors in the hallways or my room like some people mentioned. I stayed on the 5th floor. no great views from this hotel. my room was clean and very basic. bed was comfortable. Like another poster mentioned on my first night the heater did seem to take a long time to heat the room but by the second night I slept with the heater off because the room was too hot. Decor is very basic.

free wifi, which worked well. Once you enter the elevators in the lobby you have to use your room key to activate the elevator and to access any of the floors, this adds an extra layer of security I guess. Not much going on in the neighborhood, I felt pretty safe here though.

No complaints, this is a decent, no glitz, no frills hotel. If you're looking for a clean, budget-friendly place to sleep while enjoying DC, this is a great option. It was clean and I felt safe, thats all I required. If you're looking for luxury look elsewhere. I would definitely stay here again if the price is right.

Room Tip: If you plan to sleep late put the 'do not disturb' sign on your door when you turn in for th...
