“Great Value for Money...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2011

Stayed in Days Inn for 3 days on work in DC. Location & facilities make it a great value for money property and even though they don't have room service, they have restaurants as part of the building complex which deliver in the rooms. A Burger King is part of the same and so is a same day laundry. The lack of service is a little annoying sometimes but then at that price, its great VFM.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel! Your review correctly assesses what our hotel has to offer, and we appreciate the honesty. While we don't have all the amenities other hotels have in the area, we do have a committed staff, a great location, and wonderful rooms. We also pass on the savings from not having to operate these other ameneties directly to our guests. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

After an extensive search for a reasonably priced hotel in DC, we found the Days Inn on Connecticut avenue. For us it is the best value in DC. The Hotel is located about 2 blocks from the metro, which gaves us easy access to all of DC's attractions. There is even a Starbucks right there at the entrance of the metro. There is a Burger king right next to the hotel along with a very good pizza joint across the street.
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We stayed here for 3 nights and there was plenty of storage for our cloths in the dresser and the shelved unit. The staff was friendly and met our every need. There is even a gift shop in the Lobby! Parking is extra if you drive, but it was well worth it, especially since they let us leave the car there the morning of our departure. We took advantage of this and spent the morning in DC before we left!
I am a light sleeper and generally noises in a hotel disturb my sleep. Even though our room was on the front side it was quiet and peaceful and I slept very well! The wifi in the room was fast and the hotel also had 3 computers in the lobby. The only negative thing were the number of outlets available to charge your electronic items in the room. We found the pillows very comfortable, even though we did bring ours based on a few of the other reviews. Overall we had a wonderful stay and plan to stay here on our next trip to DC.

Room Tip: Upper floors have nice view of the area.

We want to thank you so much for your positive review. The lack of noise in the Van Ness area, partuicularly at night, is one of the things I love about the hotel as well. And I do agree, the upper floors definitely have a lovely view of Connecticut Avenue. The number of outlets in a room has been an ongoing concern for the hotel industry, as the need for more outlets is far greater than it was even 10 years ago. We continue to look for new ways to add outlets, as we have outlets in our lamps now and look to add more elsewhere. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us at the Days Inn Connecticut Avenue, and hope you will choose us again.

We stayed at the days Inn for three nights in September. Check - in was easy and our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near to the Van Ness metro station so getting into the city was very easy. Starbucks is virtually on the doorstep of the hotel and makes a great place for breakfast. No breakfast at the hotel but complimentary coffee in the lobby was very good. On the day we left we needed a taxi for the airport which the receptionist booked for us the night before. My only complaint is that the hotel website and guest directory advertise a same day laundry service. Thye don't have one. The receptionist recommended a dry cleaners next door but I needed a laundromat the nearest one was about 1.5 miles away. I would stay here again though as the hotel is good value for money.

Thank you for your feedback on our hotel. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and hope you will choose us again on your trips to the District. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. the wording on the website may have cause. I can definitely see how that can be misleading, and will look at the wording carefully to see if we can come up with somethin better. While we do not have laundry service, we do have a very economical cleaner next door named Zips, that does dry cleaning and some laundry service. We definitely appreciate the feedback.

We stayed here for 4 nights as part.
This hotel was chosen as it was one of the more affordable hotels in DC. Although it is a little way out of the centre, the location is excellent as it is only a 2 minute walk from Van Ness Metro on the red line, which will take you right into Downtown. It is a neighbourhood for the richer middleclass so it is a safe area to walk at night.
Breakfast is not included (though complimentary coffee is available in the lobby all day and night) and the hotel does not have a restaurant. However there are a few places nearby where you can get one (Subway, Starbucks). They have a deal with the restaurant next to the hotel, Italian where you get a 10 % discount.
The room was large, clean and very comfortable.
The only negative point was that the hairdryer was malfunctioning.
Overall, this hotel is good location, reasonable price (for DC hotels) clean and comfortable and perfect for a city break if you just want somewhere to lay your head.

No problems here, good location next to a great Italian restaurant. Tesoro's. Be sure to show your room card there for a 10% discount. Also near a Burger King and subway entrance, and a cafeteria-type restaurant where you pay by the pound for food (right at subway entrance). The liquor store/cheese store across the street had great selections of wine and food.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of bigger USA tour over Independence Day weekend.
This hotel was chosen as it was one of the more affordable hotels in DC. Although it is a liitle way out of the centre, the location is still excellent as it is only a 2 minute walk from Van Ness Metro on the red line, which will take you right into Downtown. It felt a safe area to walk around, even at night.
Breakfast is not included (though complimentary coffee is available in the lobby all day and night) and the hotel does not have a restaurant. However there are a few places nearby where you can get one (Subway, Starbucks and a place right next to the Metro where you get anything from a simple bagel to a full all u can eat buffet).
The room was large, clean and very comfortable.
Our only disappointment was with the reception staff, who seemed a little un-interested. The information in the room clearly stated that they could cash a travellers check to a value of either $50 or $100 a day (can't remember which!!) however when I tried this I was told they couldn't do this on a Sunday and to try again tomorrow, So on the Monday I tried and was told they didn't have any cash on site and to go to bank across the street (at 8.00am when it was closed !!). This is only a small quibble but they shouldn't advertise a service they don't provide.
Overall, this hotel is good location, reasonable price (for DC hotels) clean and comfortable and perfect for a city break if you just want somewhere to lay your head.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter than those at the front as the hotel is located on a busy road.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We feel our guests are the best gauge of what we are doing right as a hotel, and also our greatest areas needed to improve upon. I am terribly sorry for the confusion you encountered while tying to cash a traveller's cheque. We do indeed offer that service, and am not sure why anyone would tell you otherwise. This discrepancy has been cleared up with our entire front desk staff, and the entire staff now knows our policy on traveller's cheques. I am so glad you brought this to our attention, as this was definitely an area that needed to be addressed. I hope this hasn't soured your view on our hotel, and hope you will stay with us again on your next visit to the Days Inn Connecticut Avenue.
