“Great location and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014

The location was excellent, close to the Metro and Capitol building. The bathroom was small but clean and nicely decorated. Very friendly staff and everything we needed so we could enjoy our first trip to Washington DC. Would definitely go back!

The staff was amazing!! So professional and helpful! BEST location in the city! The breakfast had something for everyone! We are already booking our next trip this fall! The location near the metro and Capital bike rentals made is so easy to get around the city. Thank you for such a great stay!
Loved the fresh water and coffee in the lobby ALL DAY LONG.

Thanks for your kind words Karen! As someone who enjoyed biking around the Hill, you'll be happy to know, we have a bike program of our own in the works! No date yet, but we will soon offer bikes for our guests to borrow, with our compliments, of course! We can't wait to start this program soon, and I hope it's in place for your next trip to DC. Thanks again, have a great day!

I recently stayed for six nights while vacationing in DC for the first time. I had a completely lovely stay.

The staff were extraordinarily helpful and friendly. The man at the front desk who checked us in remembered our names for the duration of our stay and cheerfully greeted us by name every time he saw us, also asking if there was anything we needed -- and if we did require something, he was happy to oblige. Other staff members were equally as friendly and eager to help out tourists looking to see the most the city has to offer.

My room (the Junior Queen Suite) was very nice. I had a huge dressing room area with an adjacent bathroom, and this was very nice as it gave me plenty of space to hang up my clothes. The kitchenette had plenty of helpful gadgets as well, which was nice for a longer stay. The bed was very comfortable, and the view of the street was even quite pleasant. The room showed a little minor wear-and-tear, but it was nothing that upset me or made me question the cleanliness or quality of the hotel.

The location of the hotel was fantastic. It's about 1.5-2 blocks from a Metro station, it's nearby great dining on Pennsylvania Avenue, and of course, it's an easy walk to the Capitol and the National Mall. Honestly, for as cheap as the hotel was (especially compared to hotels even closer to the National Mall), I feel like I've gotten away with stealing.

I would absolutely stay in the Capitol Hill Hotel again, and I heartily recommend it to everyone. Free breakfast, free wifi, great location, helpful staff, clean and large rooms -- what more could you want?

Definitely centrally located to every major site in the Capitol Hill area. It's tucked away into the neighborhood, across from the Monroe Library of Congress Building and approximately a block from the Metro Station.

Breakfast is located in the second building of the hotel, one building over. Nice array of items found from day to day including fresh fruit (cut and whole), breads, sweets, cheeses, meats, cereal, yogurt, juices, and spreads. After a long day of touring around, join the staff in the main building for wine and munchies between 5 and 6 pm. The wines are excellent with varied munchies. Nice touch after a busy day.

The staff is friendly, available to help always with what appears to be a genuine interest in the guest. We stayed in a queen suite which comes with a kitchenette. A few oddities were evident, one light which controlled the bathroom and closet dressing area. Why is this odd, when you need to go to the bathroom at night the light is shining brightly into the bedroom area. There is one desk chair and one wing back chair, the bedroom area would benefit from either another chair or a love seat for sitting. One night stand, perhaps adding a small stable either near the chairs and love seat would be a nice touch - somewhere other than the floor to place your glass of wine and munchies.

When you combine the pluses and minus, would we stay again - yes. Hope they consider our suggestions.

Thanks for the review, and we are always happy to hear our guests' suggestions! Your observation of the lighting situation is valid, and we are considering several options to fix that, including adding a closet door to block out the light or just adding a switch to separate the fixtures. Either way, we are definitely always open to ideas so thank you for these, and for the kind words about your stay with us. You'll enjoy seeing any changes we make next time you're with us! Please feel free to email me directly at jennifer.goodman@capitolhillhotel-dc.com if you'd like to send me your name or room number so that I can take a look at that room specifically. Thanks again!

We stumbled on to this great hotel from hotels.com based on location to Nationals Park...attending One Direction Concert. This hotel has a wonderful, healthy breakfast and evening wine hour that are free. The rooms are large and very clean with a small kitchen area and breakfast nook. We will definitely be coming back!

Thanks Carol, we are happy you found us too! So glad you had a great time at the hotel, and the concert! We were overrun with One Direction fans that night, and all of you were awesome. :) See you next time they come to town, if not before! Thanks again.

We stayed at the Capitol Hill Hotel for 3 nights last week. It was a very enjoyable stay due to several factors: the great location, right behind the Capitol and Congressiional builidings; the very helpful staff and excellent breakfast.

The only problem we had was the intermittent Wi-Fi. Either we could not log on to the internet or it kept on dropping constantly. The Front Desk is aware of this and they said that they are working with their internet provider to improve service.

Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommed this hotel to any Washington visitor.

Our wi-fi is driving everyone crazy!! So sorry it drove you nuts too; rest assured, we definitely are working on it, and hopefully will have it resolved in the next couple of days. I'm happy to see that you enjoyed the rest of your stay with us and we will look forward to seeing you again soon.
