“Just a few suggestions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Definitely centrally located to every major site in the Capitol Hill area. It's tucked away into the neighborhood, across from the Monroe Library of Congress Building and approximately a block from the Metro Station.

Breakfast is located in the second building of the hotel, one building over. Nice array of items found from day to day including fresh fruit (cut and whole), breads, sweets, cheeses, meats, cereal, yogurt, juices, and spreads. After a long day of touring around, join the staff in the main building for wine and munchies between 5 and 6 pm. The wines are excellent with varied munchies. Nice touch after a busy day.

The staff is friendly, available to help always with what appears to be a genuine interest in the guest. We stayed in a queen suite which comes with a kitchenette. A few oddities were evident, one light which controlled the bathroom and closet dressing area. Why is this odd, when you need to go to the bathroom at night the light is shining brightly into the bedroom area. There is one desk chair and one wing back chair, the bedroom area would benefit from either another chair or a love seat for sitting. One night stand, perhaps adding a small stable either near the chairs and love seat would be a nice touch - somewhere other than the floor to place your glass of wine and munchies.

When you combine the pluses and minus, would we stay again - yes. Hope they consider our suggestions.

Thanks for the review, and we are always happy to hear our guests' suggestions! Your observation of the lighting situation is valid, and we are considering several options to fix that, including adding a closet door to block out the light or just adding a switch to separate the fixtures. Either way, we are definitely always open to ideas so thank you for these, and for the kind words about your stay with us. You'll enjoy seeing any changes we make next time you're with us! Please feel free to email me directly at jennifer.goodman@capitolhillhotel-dc.com if you'd like to send me your name or room number so that I can take a look at that room specifically. Thanks again!

We stumbled on to this great hotel from hotels.com based on location to Nationals Park...attending One Direction Concert. This hotel has a wonderful, healthy breakfast and evening wine hour that are free. The rooms are large and very clean with a small kitchen area and breakfast nook. We will definitely be coming back!

Thanks Carol, we are happy you found us too! So glad you had a great time at the hotel, and the concert! We were overrun with One Direction fans that night, and all of you were awesome. :) See you next time they come to town, if not before! Thanks again.

We stayed at the Capitol Hill Hotel for 3 nights last week. It was a very enjoyable stay due to several factors: the great location, right behind the Capitol and Congressiional builidings; the very helpful staff and excellent breakfast.

The only problem we had was the intermittent Wi-Fi. Either we could not log on to the internet or it kept on dropping constantly. The Front Desk is aware of this and they said that they are working with their internet provider to improve service.

Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommed this hotel to any Washington visitor.

I needed a place for my 18 year old daughter and three friends to stay in DC where they went to see a concert. The Capitol Hill Hotel agreed to let them stay there despite their young age and treated them with respect. The kids said the rooms, the beds, and the breakfast were all killer.

They had one problem, however. I had bought a park and stay package from the Hotel that, when the kids got there, the hotel said they couldn't honor. The kids found another place to park. When they got home, they told me this. I called and asked about it. The lovely lovely manager was horrified to hear their experience had been anything other than perfect and apologized profusely. He also gave us a most generous refund on our bill.

All in all, this is the kind of customer service I dream about. Good job, guys. We will be back!

Thanks for the note! I'm sorry that we didn't get it right on the first try, but glad that we made it right for you in the end. We aren't always perfect, but when we mess up, we do our best to fix it!! Thanks for being patient with us, see you next time. :)

My Daughter and I were on holiday, stayed at the hotel for one night. The location of the Hotel is walking distance to the Capital. Upon arriving we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. I requested we have a room with good internet reception. As I had read the internet was not always available. I was told it was due to the amount of guests using the internet at the same time. We tried in the afternoon, evening and early morning and neither of us was able to connect to the hotel internet with our phones or ipad.
The living room and bedroom were spacious. The bathroom was very small and needs additional shelving for your belongings and there is no blow dryer. Overall, the room was very clean.
There is valet parking, which we had no issues with, when I requested our car.
The breakfast the next day, I thought was good. Offered a variety of choices. Was well maintained.
Overall, I would recommend this Hotel. Felt it was very good value for the price.

Hi Judy, thanks for the review!! I'm so glad you and your daughter enjoyed a quick trip with us, and despite the issues you mention, it seems like you had a great visit. I'm so sorry that you had issues with the wi-fi. It's been an ongoing project to bring the wi-fi up to standard, and in fact, we just completed the addition of four more access points to increase the speed. Hopefully on your next visit you'll get to see this benefit for yourself! Thanks again for the great review, see you next time!

Hidden Gem of a hotel and can't say enough about the staff. Friendly, cordial and aimed to please. Kudos to front desk Hasim and David. Valet parking worth the cost. Walking distance to Capital. Be aware it's a Boutique hotel.
Definitely will stay next time in D. C.
