The Phoenix Park is among my very favorite spots in DC. I stay there frequently and have had rooms of various sizes and shapes, all of which have been clean and comfortable. The food (room service and/or Dubliner) is simple and good. The service is wonderful--friendly staff. The internet connection is reliable. And the location makes metro or taxi catching easy.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and both stays have been nice. The rooms are old fashioned with interesting wallpaper/drapery combos, but very cozy. The beds are comfy and the rooms are clean. It's right near Union Station which is convenient for shopping, food, and the metro. There is also a restaurant next door for breakfast. Staff were very polite. The rooms are small, but have everything you need.

Location, location location!! Beautiful room, wonderful room service meal and the location is unbeatable. We will definitely stay there any time our trips bring us to or through Washington, D.C. My daughter and I walked to the Capitol Building and from there to The Museum of Natural History, The Washington Monument and The Holocaust Museum. All were within an easy walk. The people we interacted with at the hotel couldn't have been more helpful with our "tourist questions". An added plus, when you make a reservation and actually speak to a nice, helpful person, it makes the world of difference. A+, Phoenix Park Hotel.

The Phoenix surpassed my expectations by providing upscale service: Doorman, Valet, courtegous desk staff, unseen housekeeping. The rooms are quaint, very clean and very quiet. I was here on business and would Definately return to this hotel. Excellent location near Union station and Capital. Great views.

Room Tip: I loved the quaint Queen bed rooms.....end of halls. Also, still large bathrooms.

I admit it, I'm a sucker for a hotel that is a little quirky with rooms that are not one size fits all. Add proximity to Union Station and I'm sold. Beds are comfy with nice linens. Bathroom products could use an upgrade. The hotel is within walking distance of the capital. The room price waxes and wanes with the demand in DC.

Bottom line: Great location, clean rooms, and pricing is competitive with other hotels in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor that is non-connecting (noise level goes up exponentially if you are...

I found this hotel at short notice for a two day business trip in DC. I needed to be close to Union Station, and there it was, on the doorstep! The hotel has real charm, which comes genuinely and easily to all the staff I encountered. The room had a slightly old-fashioned feel, but it was also very charming. The Internet is free, fast, and reliable, which makes a pleasant change from many better known hotel chains. All in all I was very content.

I booked Park Phoenix Hotel last minute when my daughter convinced me to attend the Inauguration (she worked on the committee and had tickets). I found the front desk staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly fine for the one night. I had comfortable king bed and the bathroom was clean and had a good size vanity which is important to me because I usually travel with a lot of toiletries. The shower pressure was fine, not awesome, but adequate. Towels were larger than usual hotel towels. The TV was a flat screen but not all the channels were in HD. My only complaint was that the room was a bit too warm for me, but it wasn't awful. I tend to get cold, so for someone who gets hot easily, it may have been too much. And the heat wasn't even turned on.
The location is two minute walk from Union Station; which was handy since getting around DC during the Inaugural weekend could only be done on foot or by metro since so many roads were closed and so many people were there for all the celebrations. I don't know if I'd stay there again, as I prefer more contemporary hotels, but it was fine for a last minute booking.

Room Tip: If it matters to you, ask for a room with a full vanity not just a sink.
