I booked Park Phoenix Hotel last minute when my daughter convinced me to attend the Inauguration (she worked on the committee and had tickets). I found the front desk staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly fine for the one night. I had comfortable king bed and the bathroom was clean and had a good size vanity which is important to me because I usually travel with a lot of toiletries. The shower pressure was fine, not awesome, but adequate. Towels were larger than usual hotel towels. The TV was a flat screen but not all the channels were in HD. My only complaint was that the room was a bit too warm for me, but it wasn't awful. I tend to get cold, so for someone who gets hot easily, it may have been too much. And the heat wasn't even turned on.
The location is two minute walk from Union Station; which was handy since getting around DC during the Inaugural weekend could only be done on foot or by metro since so many roads were closed and so many people were there for all the celebrations. I don't know if I'd stay there again, as I prefer more contemporary hotels, but it was fine for a last minute booking.
