“Beautiful room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Beautiful traditionally decorated room, lovely comfortable bed & pillows, lovely fixtures & fittings, good location, noisy from traffic as the hotel is right on a junction but great location next to central station, staff friendly & helpful, room small compared to european hotel rooms

Room Tip: Rooms on the front quite noisy from traffic

This is a quaint hotel, close to Union Station and the Capital. This was our first trip to DC and it was great. The hotel is clean, the employees friendly and the Dubliner restaurant makes it easy to grab a bite to eat or grab a drink.

I was truly suprised that a hotel which was so close to the Capital and tourist area could be so inexpensive. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was great. We paid less than $100 a night on a holiday weekend; The only caveat would be the Irish restaurant inside the hotel: the food is horid!. Luke warm and tasteless (or typical Irish cuisune) Other than that the place is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in

My husband and I stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel on September 1-2, 2012. They made our anniversary extra special by upgrading us to a penthouse suite! It was very nice having a sitting room complete with fireplace and an additional tv. The room also had a dining area that overlooked the city. The bedroom featured wonderful linens and bathroom had large soaking tub. What a great treat to celebrate 30 years! The staff was friendly and very helpful. We will be glad to stay again so close to Union Station--everything right there. We also loved the Irish Pub, the Dubliner--great cornbeef!

We had no complaints and the train station is a quick one block stroll away, if AMTRAK is your destination then stay HERE! For some the "cozy" rooms might feel slightly clastrophobic The decor is very much "high" Irish imitation of English Country manor. I loved the bathtub/ shower in our corner room. Old elevators, so in the morning be aware of this possible bottleneck. This is a beautifully re-habbed old hotel. I remember when this was an absolute DIVE full of Congressional types and rheir Floozies. Now it has retained the old elegant parts and is ready for the world to enjoy. The only aspect that wasn't up to standards was the breakfast. The breakfast room was crowded and poorly managed on the Labor Day weekend Sunday The breakfast wasn't all that great. There are wonderful food options in Union Station.

If you are planning a trip to DC and want to take in all that this city has to offer, there is no better place to stay than the Phoenix Park Hotel. The Capital building is visible from the hotel and you will be within very easy walking distance to Union Station where the Metro will take you anywhere you want to go. The hotel itself is charming and historic and our room was just the right size with extremely comfortable beds and a clean bathroom with plush towels and robes to help you unwind after a day's worth of sightseeing. The staff is friendly and helpful with whatever needs you might have and the downstairs restaurant serves hearty Irish breakfasts and lunches and dinners. We enjoyed the Irish soda bread toasted with breakfast and the Irish stew at dinner. We would definitely choose to stay at this hotel again on our next trip to DC.
