“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

I stay at the Georgetown Inn several time a year and always enjoy it because of it's convenient location and hotel services. It also offers parking and a good bar and restaurant with all the Georgetown restaurants nearby.

My husband and I LOVE this hotel. We have come to know all of the staff so its like a homecoming every time we arrive. We park the car and walk everywhere we need to go. Restaurants, shops, drugstores and a 7-11 are a short walk away. I love Georgetown and it doesn't get any better than being on Wisconsin Ave. The rooms have very comfortable bedding, are quiet, clean, well equipped (they even supply robes). The Georgetown is comparable to nearby hotels except maybe the shower which is small but gets the job done. The staff and location easily make up for any imperfections one might find in the room.

My husband and I wanted a Georgetown getaway after the Christmas bustle, so we booked December 29th and 30th at the Gerogetown Inn. We had stayed here several times in the past, but not since about four years prior. We have always loved the location of the hotel. It is on Wisconsin Avenue, very close to M Street, which is the major venue in Georgetown, including many great restaurants and shops (Kate Spade is a favorite of mine!). Everything is in walking distance!
The hotel seemed a little run down from when we stayed there in the past. They are apparently renovating, but things seemed in disarray. The elevator had dirty plastic on the floor and our bathroom had nail holes in the wall where there had apparently been some sort of repair. We had a queen room, which was adequate, however, our bathroom was tiny! You also had to physically be in the shower before you could turn it on as the water would spray out. There was no way I could put on my makeup etc., while my husband was shaving, without bumping into each other!
The restaurant/bar in the lobby, however, is a nice place to go for a cocktail and people watch. We did not eat there, but we ordered room service breakfast and it was fine.
I would definitely stay there again, as I stated, the location is primo. I would reserve a different size room though, due to the bathroom size. I only hope they are finished with the remodel or whatever they are doing!

Room Tip: Ask about the bathroom size first!

Our experience at the Georgetown Inn was pleasant, but not without incident. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the evening and it took around 30 minutes for them to figure out what was going on. But the room was clean (older hotel with aged accommodations) and the staff very friendly. If you want a stay in the heart of Georgetown, this is a good place to consider.

I had booked this hotel from UK, and having read the reviews had confirmed a refurbished room. When we arrived we had been given an older room, that looked a bit tired. Rachelle on the front desk was so helpful and apologetic and offered a swap room 3 times, but each time there was a problem (air-conditioning units outside the window, refurbishment work going on next door etc) so we stayed with our original room. Over the next few hours we began to realise why the rooms were being refurbished - the windows had gaps with fresh air coming in (DC in December is very fresh!), the sink tap leaked slowly, handles came off the drawers, the AC unit was temperamental. Lucky for us that we were so busy seeing the sights of Georgetown and DC that we didn't spend much time in the room.

And that's where this hotel comes into it's own - it's brilliantly located for the M street shops and restaurants and a 20 minutes walk will get you to Foggy Bottom Metro and the rest of DC. Valet parking is available but spaces limited.

A quick word about the Daily Grill on site bar and restaurant - great food, always busy, attentive staff - especially Bentley behind the bar. They usually have a handful of decent craft ales on draught BUT check what is actually working before you order. On just about every occasion there was at least one ale going through a lengthy barrel change.

I can see how this hotel WAS great and how it might be again after the refurbishment, but right now it is hit and miss whether you will get value for money.

Room Tip: Avoid 2nd floor at the rear of the hotel (e.g. 217), the air conditioning units are right outside th...

Thank you for your comments about your visit to The Georgetown Inn. We are pleased that your visit was so enjoyable and that you recognized the members of our staff! Recently, there have been many improvements such as the installation of a new free high speed internet service, new 37-inch high definition televisions in all guestrooms, a free 24-hour business center and other similar upgrades. Most recently, we replaced our entire heating ventilation and air conditioning systems with a state-of-the-art personal climate control system to ensure that future guests will have more enjoyable experiences at our hotel. Currently, we are quietly undergoing the renovation of all guest bathrooms by March 2015. We sincerely hope that we will have the opportunity to serve you again in the future. In the meantime, we hope you'll spread the word!

Stayed in November for one night having previously spent a week in 2013. It's lovely and comfy with helpful friendly team. The area is great for a sole traveler (I was traveling for work both times), with plenty pleasant places to walk, and choice of restaurants and shops. Clean with fluffy dressing gown and super comfy bed. There's even an Apple Store across the road. Look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Upgrade to executive if you can, for more spacious room

A very tall bed which was difficult to climb into as a small person but once in I didn't want to get out, so comfy! Bathroom a bit run-down and the hotel had a slightly seedy feel or perhaps aged is a nicer term but still quite nice overall and you can't beat the location for Georgetown. Staff is competent and helpful, usually polite.
