We were looking for a budget hotel in DC, and found this hidden gem. Some say here that it is in the a "ghetto", but I personally think they were torn town to build apartment buildings, and the apartments were built, but during a pretty bad time. (The housing recession) I think it would be much more lively. Its mostly just a few people in the buildings that you see walking there dogs. The closest metro is navy yard, which is about 3 blocks away, about an 8 minute walk. Our group walked it day and night, and we didn't see any shady characters. This place has a little convenience store, which is nice. The restaurant is very pricey! I had spinach ravioli, $21, for two raviolis that were 3x3! I saw that cheeseburgers were pretty big and came with fries. Get those. It has a breakfast buffet, but for $12. Everything looked nice and fresh. There is a McDonald's across the street. The insides of the rooms were very very nice considering its price. Very nice fitness center, a TV in every treadmill. There are two high speed computers in the lobby and free wireless Internet in the rooms. Comfortable beds, a safe, but the water pressure in the shower was a little low. If you are scared of the walk to the metro, there are usually taxis in front of the hotel. The outside of the hotel needs a little painting, but its not like that makes your bed uncomfortable or it a bad hotel. All in all, a great hotel for the price range.
