“can't go wrong”

Black Salt has the highest quality seafood in great variety and wonderfully prepared. Reliably and consistently. The happy hour at the bar is really a bargain. The restaurant is not but it is top quality and won't disappoint. Here you will get great reliable seafood. I love seafood and I am very particular!
There is a great brunch but I haven't tried it yet.

“Satisfaction Guaranteed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

We've been eating at Black Salt for the past 7-8 years, and it's always lived up to our high expectations. We go there for the seafood, but the menu is diverse enough that the red meat crowd can be well-taken care of. My favorite is the soft shell crab, and I'm always happy to let the chef conjure up some special concoction with it that's off the menu. Our favorite waiter (Ahmed) suggested that a few years back and it's become a mainstay for our visits. I'm picky, too, so for me to trust someone else's taste takes a big leap of faith! It's a little off the beaten path and out of the DC mainstream, but that's part of what we like about it, too. It's just a few minutes from M Street, and if you're going over from VA or coming in from MD it's an easy in and out.

“Excellent Fresh Seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012 via mobile

Dinner at Black Salt was very enjoyable. Delicious swordfish and flounder were our choices last night. The fish was very fresh and perfectly prepared. We started with clam chowder that was over-herbed and way too rich, good but over done with ingredients and milk or cream. We also had a shrimp cocktail which was good with a nice cocktail sauce. For dessert we tried the apple bread pudding, delicious, and the butterscotch layered dessert, very good, but oh so rich.

Very nice wine list from all parts of the USA and Europe. Very reasonably priced.

A very nice seafood dinner and excellent service. Highly recommend.

“A terrific fish restaurant with a ***** star wine list”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Fresh , fresh , fresh fish . it cannot be more fresh than here .I had Nantucket scallops , small but probably the best i have ever had anywhere in the world , and a very special bouillabaisse , not like in Marseille , but with very fresh and tasty fish and mussels . But the most amazing thing is that they have a truly extraordinary and unbelievable wine list . Would you ever dream of finding in Washington DC in a fish restaurant a Romanée St Vivant 2003 of the Romanée Conti or a Clos de Tart 2009 ? A wonderful experience . I will definitely come back here.
The only negative point : they should have a better taxi service . I had to wait 25 minutes to get a taxi .
