We recently spent a few days with Mathilda Cox, proprietress of the Vermont Avenue B&B and Emma “Cox”, her able assistant Welsh corgi mix. Mathilda has owned her charming row house for 26 years, but only opened recently as a B&B. She is a “natural” as a B&B hostess, charming, extremely knowledgeable about D.C. and very interested in people. We stayed in the “Master Bedroom” a very large, beautifully decorated room complete with large windows and a fireplace. The attached bathroom is also large and welcoming with many upscale bath fixtures and appointments. Mathilda has a background in decorating and it shows throughout the B&B! The location of the B&B is excellent, just off Logan Circle, within walking distance of many good restaurants. The bus and Metro stops are close by. If you bring a car, parking is available nearby, but we strongly suggest walking and public transportation around D.C. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommend the Vermont Avenue B&B for your next stay in D.C.
