“The wait is worth it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Waited for more than half an hour to be seated. Food was great, portions generous and prices very reasonable. Its not hard to understand why this place is always packed.

“Good food but spotty service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

This is a popular cafe/restaurant with a big menu and noisy crowd. The food is generally above average and it's open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffees to-go e.g. lattes. I want to recommend it and will do so with one caveat: you'll have to wait to order your food and you'll wait for it to arrive. Somehow they haven't come to grips with being a popular restaurant and how to work the flow. It is the only place of its kind so I think it gets away with such erratic service for that reason. Bring a friend or something to read and the wait will be fine. If you're pressed for time, go somewhere else!

“Don't expect good service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Went three times while in DC as it was within walking distance to hotel and had read some decent reviews. Got OC breakfast with meat, potato, egg, and cornmeal pancake. Chicken sausage was cold, almost tasted like it was frozen and not rewarded long enough. Breakfast potatoes were crunchy and overdone. Pancakes were good. Actually ended up getting them twice. Egg was also cold. Would have mentioned something, but the wait staff never checked back in with us after we took the first bite. Friend got the tofu scramble twice and really enjoyed.

Coffees were great. Desserts, tarts, turnovers were marginal. They are in the cooler and I couldn't cut the tart with knife and fork. Cookies were good. Cakes were VERY dry.

Advise to get there before 8 on the weekends to be seated. You can order carry out for coffee and Danishes.

“Great breakfast”

Had a really nice breakfast at this restaurant. Staff was very pleasant and friendly. Location was convenient to my hotel and it appeared to be very popular with locals.

“Awesome brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

Great brunch, very popular and can have a long wait. Food and coffee excellent. Also try Tryst- owned by same company. Close to Zoo, kids are welcome at Ope. City. Quieter at night, has good selection of beer and wine. Service is so/so but food is good and location convenient, right off woodley park metro stop.
