“Really Great Choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Excellent location, adorable house, nice and comfortable bedroom and super sweet and friendly host. We loved staying there, we felt good and happy. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a nice time in DC. If we are back to DC, we will be back there, for sure.

House was adorable and super clean! Management was super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was perfect. Could not believe the affordable rate in such a happening and trendy neighborhood. I will be back for sure!

Room Tip: I stayed on the third floor in a room that shared a bathroom, excellent!

Either for business or pleasure, the location, value, and premises are pretty great. The owners are awesome and really fun and helpful to deal with. I took the basement apartment, which is essentially a "suite" with living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. I loved staying there, it was super clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've had in a long time traveling. The area is really fun, lots of cool restaurants and bars, and easy access to metro and so forth. I would definitely recommend this for a single traveler or a couple. I did not see the other rooms on the premises nor did I have meals there (the basement apartment does not include breakfast, which was also perfect for me).

An excellent locatiion between Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan Short walk to the trendy U. Street Corridor and Logan Circle. 10 min walk to either Shaw or Dupont Metro. We stayed in the basement flat which was spacious with fridge and microwave, The apartment could be improved by using thermal curtain on the entry door. The bedroom door didn't close because the bedframe blocked it and could be remedied by reorienting the furniture. The host was very cordial and we enjoyed our stay overall.

If you appreciate beautiful old houses, as we do, this is your place. The house has been lovingly restored to keep historic details, like bullseye moldings and handsome oak mantels. We were there off-season and couldn't believe how reasonable the room-rates were; compared to other big cities in the off-season (like nearby NY) our two night stay in a second floor room with bathroom en suite was a fantastic bargain -- less than the family dinner for six we had at trendy nearby pizzeria Matchbox. Best of all for us, we were an easy two block walk from our daughter's apartment. As others have said, John is a wonderfully accommodating host. We felt like we were in a good friend's home, not just a b&b, even enjoying family games in the living room after that pricey pizza dinner. U Street is suddenly the place to be, and we were in the heart of it -- great clothing and home boutiques, cafes and restaurants for every budget, cabs on every corner, and the Metro a short walk away. We loved it!

This bed-and-breakfast is an older home in DC, bordering 3 very trendy neighborhoods. It's reasonably close to the U St./Cardozo metro station, but you'll need to walk 10 minutes to get anywhere of interest. It's on a busy through-street with lots of traffic, liquor store and bodegas (this doesn't bother me, but it could irritate a light sleeper). I stayed on the top floor. I've seen cleaner bathrooms-- this is my biggest complaint about the place. The drains didn't work, the bath mats were dirty, and the tub/sink didn't look like they'd been scrubbed in a while. The price for my room was steep because I only stayed one night (they require 2 night minimum stay, or else a $20 surcharge). The host was very friendly and accommodating and apparently there is a continental breakfast served between 8:30 and 9:30 am (but I didn't wake up in time!) Overall the place is adequate, but could use a facelift and a good cleaning... the decor & furniture were a bit shabby considering the price.

As other reviewers have said, John the owner is friendly and helpful. The location of the B & B is about 5 blocks from a Metro station, and U Street is lively with restaurants and bars of many types in the evening. I had a room on the top floor with a separate bathroom, but that was no problem at all. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is the price--but I guess it's in line with places to stay in DC.
