“Visit Atomic Annie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

The most famous resident of Lafayette Square is Atomic Annie, the little old woman preaching about her views on, well... atomics. She is the only protestor allowed in a certain perimeter of the White House, and if she leaves the perimeter, the police will have to remove her 'home' so she is always there. The square itself is a nice walkthrough, with a great view of the White House. Another great park in D.C.!

The best place to watch the 4th of July Fireworks just as everyone told us. The place was filled with Lightning bugs so Jaxon had a awesome time playing with his new friends.... Thank you DC for a great park in a perfect place.

“Beautiful park, great photo opportunity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We wanted to take photos of our group of teens with the White House, and this place is the perfect spot. About halfway in the park, there is a great view of the White House, and we got GREAT photos. There are lots of tourist and security, so it's very safe.

It's nothing special, the only thing special here is the view of the White house! And the squirrels!

“WHERE HAS THE LAFAYETTE SQUARE (LS) GONE?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

In 1970's, used to work at the Riggs National Bank (now PNC Bank) located near the Lafayette Square. During the summer months, some of my office mates and I would have our short picnics at the LS during our lunch breaks. Today, it seemed that the Lafayette Square that I remembered is GONE!

Temporary buildings that house construction people and their stuffs are present in the LS. Fences are everywhere to guard the construction areas and the White House located across Pennsylvania Avenue. The Inaugural Stand that was used during the Inauguration Parade has not been dismantled or removed. Is this due to the looming Budget Cuts?

Note that sections of Pennsylvania Avenue from 15th Street to 17th Street are closed to traffic so only pedestrians are allowed. Also take note of Secret Services cars and personnel in front of the White House.

Suggestions: Use the benches in the LS to rest and gather your strength if you plan to walk to other Washington, DC tourist sites. Take pictures of the White House, Lincoln Monument and other beautiful buildings located near by. Feed the friendly squirrels - they love peanuts. Imagine the time when all these constructions would be completed.
