This is one of the few museums in DC open after 5 PM, it usually is open until 7 PM. It is in the original Patent Building, so the interior has some classic 19th century touches. The collection covers a wide range of American art and some of the rooms are so huge that large pieces can be seen effectively. This is a great place for those who are interested in American Art. Also in the same building, on the other side is the National Portrait Gallery. There is a cafeteria which is not impressive and is over priced. There are many dining options in the area around the museum and Chinatown is only a block away. Parking is difficult in the area so public transportaion is a better option to get here.
