“Great salad place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I love salad as a meal and this place is great. Good ingredients, fresh and the workers are very nice. My only negative is that they have discontinued my favorite salad dressing (simple lemon). It was very good so I hope it comes back. The salads are kind of expensive but that is the going rate for lunch in DC.

“Great if it's not delivery. Or lunchtime.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

First I'd like to start with the positive.
I've never really encountered an unpleasant person at a Chop't location. This one included. Secondly, and most importantly, it's a great place for a salad. Period. They've got a good variety of salad mixes and a great selection of toppings.
Timing is everything, however.
If it's lunchtime, forget it. The lines are literally out the door. Always. If it's later in the day or earlier, then go for it.
In terms of delivery, I have, unfortunately, never had a good experience. Something always goes wrong. It's kind of amazing how when I'm actually IN the location, all is well and they're well-stocked. When I call in for delivery though, they're always out of something. Spinach for example (Seriously?!). You've got to be kidding me. Also, the fact that for a delivery that is literally four blocks away from me, it (before any mistakes/delays/etc) was set to take forty minutes for delivery. After all the mess-ups/shortages/etc though, it ended up taking an hour and a half to get a salad. To their credit, they didn't charge me. But it's not an ideal process or waiting time. I realize that in a larger city, such an in-demand service could be hard to coordinate at times, but regardless.
Therefore, I will give a "very good" for the food itself, and for the service you receive when you're actually in the building. For delivery and lunchtime though, it's far more bother than it's worth.

“Big Salad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

First time to Chop't and had the Cobb Salad. It was quite good, and cool to watch them put it together, then chop it all up and put it in the big bowl. It soon became apparent that the salad is too much for one person, but was fresh and tasty.

“Cheap eats, good eats, healthy eats, happy eats”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Chop’t Creative Salad Co. got its start in New York and is also (as I write this) in DC. Basically, you pick your roughage (e.g., romaine, spinach), toppings, and dressing. All salads are made to order or you can pick a specialty salad. The resultant nest of goodness goes in a bowl onto which two wedges of whole grain bread are placed. The name comes from the fact that they put everything in a bowl and take a cleaver to it. This place is great for city proles who need a good meal around $10. Or for a family visiting D.C. or New York, it would make a great lunch stop between touring and shopping. And for the poor soul (or conventioneer) who is sent to one of those cities for a work gig, it can be your best friend on that less-than-ample per diem they give you. This is a long overdue step up from typical mediocre American-style take-out. Carry out or eat in. I recommend the spicy chipotle dressing. Chop't says, "Bring me your tired and poor." [March 2013]

I wanted something fast and healthy and found this perfect place. I ordered the Tuscan Salad - sooo delish and filling. Place was clean, staff friendly, price was right for what I received. I only wish we had one where I live!!!!
