“Good hotel, not so nice neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We returned to the Hampton Inn Convention Center Inn for a second stay, a few years after our first. Last time, we took the subway with few problems. This time, it felt like we were walking the gauntlet just to get there. After that, we took a taxi. There is construction/demolition going on on 6th street, and our first room faced the site. After being woken very early, we requested a higher room on the other side of the hotel, and were not only given the room, but our luggage was moved as well. The hotel itself is clean, the breakfast can't be beat, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's too bad about the neighborhood and the construction, though.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for returning after you initial visit to our Hotel. I am sorry, you experienced the construction noise and related activities outside our Hotel. Good news is that the building was demolished and actual construction is currently going on. I hope by your next visit, you'll see fully finished beautiful buildings infront of the Hotel.

Hotel staff remain ready to provide you with the best hospitality you may encounter in Hampton Hotels. Visit us again and experience hamponality!

Sincerely,

Hotel located near downtown, China town and other sites. Eclectic neighborhood. Great value. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel needed more eating space for breakfast. Work out room was nice but could have been larger. There was a grocery store around the corner which was a nice. Fresh fruit was available in the lobby, which was another plus. AND there were cookies and iced water with lemon for the guests.

My family and I stayed here for a couple days to visit the museums in DC. The staff was very friendly. We were able to check in early which was a plus. The cookies, lemonade and coffee in the afternoon were quite a treat. Everyone in the family was able to find something to eat in the breakfast buffet. There were plenty of food options in the neighborhood for lunch or dinner. The walk to the Mall and the museums was pleasant and not too strenuous. We took advantage of the pool and the fitness room which were both adequate. We will stay here again.

This was a great place to stay. We stayed with our kids and the rooms were comfortable, clean, and we were even able to check in early. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was filling and there was plenty of seating.
There is even a nice little bar area for a night cap.

The location is great, but a daytime shuttle to Union Station would have earned it 5 stars from me. Other than that it was perfect!

Room Tip: stay away from elevators and the 2nd floor. the pool is right there, as is the laundry and gym

We stayed at the hotel while attending a conference in the convention center. This is our second time at the Hampton Inn DC. The rooms are typical Hampton, clean, roomy, with comfy beds. The breakfast was excellent with several hot choices plus many other options. They could use a little bigger eating area. The place was packed for breakfast on the 4th of July!
The breakfast staff was outstanding.. in fact all of the staff were excellent! As we would return to the hotel after a long day at the conference, it was so nice to be greeted by the staff and to smell the hot cookies fresh from the oven. They even had two or three choices plus cold lemonade and ice water. Great place to stay! I will be back.
PS. Tiny Pool. Not so good for the family.

Room Tip: I would avoid the second floor since that is where the pool is located and the floor smelled like ch...

Everything, start to finish, was great about this hotel. The staff was cheery and always visible and available to help when needed. The rooms are comfy and clean with great rates, especially with included wifi and breakfast. You can't beat the price in DC. The location is just at the edge of what I would accept for accessibility to the sites but the cost/night makes it well worth the few extra steps. If you don't like to walk, the hotel has good public transit closeby too. Lots and lots of great restaurants are just a couple of blocks away. The only "complaint" I would have is that the elevators are very slow so plan for a wait time if you need to be on time to an appointment!

Just stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights to attend a conference at the convention center in DC. The hotel is about 2 blocks from the convention center. There is a lot of construction directly across the street, but even with some of the sidewalks closed it was still only a 5 minute walk. There was absolutely NO street noise at night, which is amazing for a city location. The inside hallways were a bit noisy, but this seems standard for most hotels these days. The breakfast was included - it wasn't anything fancy, but enough to get you going in the morning. The location was surprisingly good as well. It's right next to Chinatown and about a 10 minute walk from restaurants and bars on H street. We also look a nice longer walk down to the monuments which only took about 25 minutes. All in all, a great conference stay!

We are delighted to hear from you regarding your stay at our Hotel. Our team takes tremendous pride in providing exceptional hospitality to all our guests.

As you identified being a convention Hotel, we remain full most of the time and noise level due to people talking may carry at night. Construction in front of the hotel will add fantastic retail and office destinations for visitors in the near future.

Do visit us again and we hope to provide you great peronalized service.

Thank you for your loyalty-
