“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Our family stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay.
Good points
Rooms were comfortable and clean with good bathroom, hairdryer, shower, toiletries and fluffy towels.
Plenty of hanging space and storage.
Free access to internet via the computer room downstairs.
Complimentary breakfast.
Complimentary tea and coffee in lobby
Coffee machine, fridge & microwave in room.
Negatives:
Plastic cutlery and paper plates for breakfast use. (Why?)
Traffic noise
Expensive bar
The good points far outweigh the bad and i would recommend the hotel. It is convenient for all the sights, with a 15 minute walk to Archives and 25 minute walk to Union Station. It got very busy at the weekend and breakfast was a bit of a scrum. Staff friendly and helpful.

Took a vacation with our college-aged children and wanted someplace affordable and convenient to all the things we wanted to do. Short walk to the metro, very comfy beds, great indoor pool area and full complimentary breakfast - all for a reasonalble price for the area. Staff was a little hard to communicate with, as many didn't speak fluent English - be we were able to overcome that with a little patience.

Everything we expected the hotel to be. Very conveniently located and comfortable. Powerful shower and bath. Big comfy beds. Fluffy towels. Would stay here again. Breakfasts were a bonus - don't have the hot food but the bagels and pastries are lovely. What a pity that everything is served in plastic cups and plates!

Booked this hotel to attend the TEDxMidAtlantic conference. Brought the family since my 8year old was attending with me and thought the rest would enjoy the sights. The location was really convenient (5-10 min walk) to the Sidney Harmon Theater (next to Convention Center), but it wasn't through the nicest of areas. We planned all our outings strategically so we'd be back before dark or drove where we needed to go.

The hotel was newly remodeled and looked very nice. The kids loved the breakfast calling i the "best breakfast ever" several mornings in a row. Only issue was the room next to us decided it was a good idea to party until 4am the one night (and broke the hotel's no smoking policy). If I had a need to be in the area again I definitely would consider this hotel, especially for business travel.

BTW, the concierge/hotel staff is great. They helped with everything and even got us some bananas and breakfast bags when we checked out. The personal service and touches are why Hilton hotels are the best.

Room Tip: A 2-queen room is actually a bit more like 2 doubles, perfect for the kids, but a little tight with...

Enjoyed a one day visit within walking distance of several restaurants, attractions and the convention center. Friendly and helpful bellman and breakfast area staff. Hotel was clean with rooms well supplied with towels, etc. Comfortable beds, reasonable price. Parking a little high at $34 pls $6 tax.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed here with family this past weekend, choosing it because of its proximity to Chinatown and other downtown attractions. The rooms were more than adequate and the price seemed reasonable in comparison to other hotels in the vicinity. Staff was pleasant despite appearing overwhelmed at times.

But there were a number of negatives: The elevators were very slow (inadequate design?); the hot tub water was green and opaque, thus it appeared not to have been changed for a long, long time; the drop off space at the curb by the hotel entry was woefully inadequate such that cars waiting to drop off or pick up actually had to stop and block the street traffic, with honking and irritated motorists; the breakfast area was crowded, noisy and dirty on the weekend; and if you have to park you car with the hotel -- and there is very little in the way of alternatives -- it will cost you more than $40 per night, tax included. Seemed a bit much. We probably will check out other options when we plan our next trip to DC.

Had a great weekend and the hotel accommodations were a part of our overall positive experience in DC.
Friendly & helpful staff from at front desk, valet, baggage storage and breakfast area. Hotel was clean and well maintained including our room (standard king). Price was reasonable for a downtown hotel and the location provided easy access to many close-by attractions and the DC Metro (subway).
Parking charge - rate was in line with other hotels in the area, I just generally hate to pay that much just to park my car, especially when it is just going to sit unused the entire weekend. $34 a day plus a parking tax really adds to the weekend expenses.
We arrived early on a Friday at approx 11:00 am. We were expecting to put our bags into storage and head out to a museum. We pleasantly surpirsed to find that we could check into our room already. This got the weekend off to a nice start and set the tone for our stay at this Hampton Inn. We will return for sure!
