“Nothing Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

I was very excited to try Malaysian food as I am heading their for my honeymoon this place was kind of a let down. The older server we had wasn't very friendly and not very helpful at all the younger girl was a lot better. Our food took forever and it was slow and to be honest when we got it, it wasn't very hot. My curry goat was far better then my friends tamarind beef. The beef was actually disgusting it was gritty and dry. My lychee drink was very good. It seems at one time this place must have been very good as it had a bunch of awards from 2004 to 2009ish it seems they have lost their touch. Place also was kind of dirty. In a city full of great restaurants I wouldn't go here.

“Good Malaysian food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We found this on trip. The food was delicious but we ordered too much for two quite thin people! The good sign about this restaurant was that there were lots of Malaysians eating here.

“Stay away from the tamarind beef!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Wow, what a contrast between two dishes. I really, really wanted to like this place. We were off to a good start with the ampang yong tofu in curry sauce. It was beautiful and delicious, the only down side being that the broccoli florets were humongous, and fist-sized eggplants were almost too much to handle with chopsticks or even a fork. Still, it was colorful, appetizing, and simply delicious.

The "spicy" tamarind beef was absolutely inedible. They brought it out before I had made much headway on the tofu dish, so it was cold by the time I got around to tasting it. No amount of heat could have saved this dish, however, unless it was completely incinerated. It looked like road kill and tasted, well, like I imagine road kill would.

The place needs a major renovation, too. When walking in I got a whif of something sour and mildewy. Atmosphere is depressing. Decor is totally uninviting. The business card cites their many accolades and award nominations. Something has gone seriously wrong here. Staff are friendly enough, though.

“A Dive-y, Delicious, Off the Beaten Path Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

One of my favorite DC finds. Try FN10 (char kuih teow) - a flat rice noodles dish that is out of this world and, of course, the deluxe sampler (the chicken lo bak especially is incredible).

“Was ok but not exceptional”

Fast service, decent food but not great. Staff very helpful. Authentic dishes. Good inexpensive option, but not memorable.
