“great for dinner and breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Careful service and typical brasserie menu. for dinner the central part is noisier, better sit on the lateral side if you prefer to chat than be seen!

“Mixed feeling - Great food; Management needs work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We went both on a Friday night in January 2013 after a Wizards game and again for breakfast the next day (Saturday, this time with the kids) because we were staying in the attached hotel, Kimpton Hotel Monaco.

The bar on Fri night was busy & fun. Bartender was good even though he was busy. Wine selection he recommended was tasty.

However, at breakfast the next day, even though we were staying in the hotel, we were told they were "fully committed." It wasn't until I asked whether we could sit at the bar that the hostess agreed to take us. I'm surprised a hotel restaurant wouldn't automatically take you if you are staying in the hotel. It took about 25 minutes before we got a menu, though the waitress was nice once she finally helped us. Food was very good but my sense was that no one, other than perhaps our waitress, was happy to be there. The cooks, who are in plain view of all, have scowls on their faces, and the hostess is clueless. It took quite awhile to get drinks and then our food.

I would go back to the bar if I were 20-40-something, but back to the restaurant as a family of 4 staying at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. If you do decide to go, make a reservation.

Excellent breakfast and dinner. Bar is VERY loud in the evening. Lots of fruit flies in the back bar.

“Great breakfast and excellent service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The food was delicious and our service was great. We asked our waitress about some of the sites we were thinking about doing and she not only answered them, but she got pamphlets from the front desk about each of them. Also, she overheard my son talking about how hungry he was (he is 6) and she put an order in for Chinese donuts (free of charge) so that he (and we also) could have a snack while waiting for the rest of our food.
