“I enjoyed this one.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

I saw this at night, and believe that it was probably more beautiful at that time than during the day. The fountains are lit up by light, light shines on each individual column representing each state, and the Washington Monument shines in the distance. In this case, the Washington Monument was covered in scaffolding, but it is still a beautiful sight from the WWII monument. I wish I could have had more time to appreciate the monument, but the site was suddenly swarmed by loud middle-schoolers who blocked our way.

“Beautiful memorial.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Was blessed to visit this memorial during the day and late in the evening. I preferred the evening visit because it was peaceful & with fewer people allowing you take it all in (the site, as well as the sounds of the water).

“Fitting tribute.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

This memorial is enormous and rightly so. We visited on the Veterans Day weekend - I would imagine that a visit Nov 11 would be quite amazing.

“Reflective”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

The memorial is on quite a scale, the gold stars representing the soliders was very thought provoking, as were the quotes dotted around the fountains and the pillars with each state represented. I sat by the fountains for a while, and found it very thought provoking.
The location is just down from the White House, Washington Monument at the end of the reflecting pool, like all these monuments in DC it didn't seem very close to any Metro so a bit of a walk
