“Love everything about this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

I am not a Native American but I love the fact that they were asked about this building and how best to build it to honor our Native people. I always learn something new and see something that leaves me thinking every time I go.

“fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

The museum has been updated with interactive exhibits for children and lots of live performances and exhibits. They have an awesome, award-winning cafe with authentic food that is part of the whole experience.

“an architectural delight with a cafe not to be missed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

The nation's tribute to its native peoples is housed in a beautiful building that is a delight to the eyes, especially after the drabness of the rows of other Smithsonians. Its entrance faces east towards the rising sun, the door etched with sun symbols from different tribes. They do a good job of condensing the beliefs and practices of the various tribal groups, which I think could be enhanced by a more in-depth seasonally-rotated exhibit focusing on one tribe or one segment of native American history, complete with music, drumming, art and dance. Be sure to time your visit to include a meal in the Mitsitam ("Let's eat!") Cafe, which boasts a wide variety of native foods from different corners of the Americas (one downside: the fry bread was a bit "heavy" on the day I visited; proper oil heat and timing should turn them light and fluffy).

“Impressive building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This is possibly one of the most impressive buildings in Washington, and definitely the most impressive of the museum buildings. I love to collect American Indian artifacts, and while the items in this museum were of interest to me, I found the layout of the exhibits to not follow a patter that was easy to discern. We spent a short 90 minutes here, and I was expecting much more than what we saw.
