Description: The restaurant of choice of many distinguished diners and restaurant critics, Ristorante La Perla of Washington, located near Georgetown at the tail-end of the historic Pennsylvania Avenue, takes its diners on a culinary journey through Italy with elegant decor surpassed only by authentic mouth-watering Italian masterpieces. During Lunch and Dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while prime meats, poultry, seafood and vegetables roast to treat diners to a little bit of heaven, with a long lasting memory for your taste buds, thanks to the vision of famous chef Vittorio Testa, who has kept alive the Italian culinary tradition for over three decades. Chef-Owner Vittorio Testa will make you feel like you're dining in his house. The waiters exceed expectations, and the space is garnished with painted tiles and Venetian glass to make every dining occasion a memorable one. There's also Private dining and Outdoor seating when the weather permits.

“What an absolute disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

Ate here after reading the reviews in Tripadviser. Completely overrated. Very overpriced average Italian fare, seems to be trading on reputation rather than substance. The whole experience certainly didn't justify the $200 for 2 price tag. Left feeling very disappointed.

“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

I am in and out of DC three- four times per year and always incorporate a La Perla visit. The attraction--authentic Italian cuisine, an intimate ambiance and thoughtful, unhurried service. In particular, their seafood and veal preparations are outstanding, their pasta inventive, their wine list knowledgable. A private dining room can host a large family dinner and business meeting. Love that Mr. Testa, the chef and owner, always stops by to chat and make recommendations. This is a hidden gem on Pennsylvania Avenue. Do not miss it.

“A standout among superlatives”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

There simply isn't better Italian food in Washington. Among it's many wonderful offerings are the best Oso Buco this side of the Atlantic, Oysters the size of a Buick hubcap and many off menu chef creations that vary from season to season. Wonderfully located between the White House and Georgetown it is worth the trip from wherever you are. On a cold wintery day, have a bowl of the Minestrone and all will be well in the world.

“Excellent Italian Fare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We stumbled across this restaurant during a recent stay in DC and are we glad we did! The menu is extensive and offers a wide selection of pastas, seafood dishes, and meat dishes along with specials. The wine list is extensive and includes many imports from Italy. The service was great, our server was attentive without over doing it, and the chef/owner stopped by to see how we enjoyed our food. The desert menu is great (don't miss the Tiramisu) and the iced limoncello is a perfect ending to a great meal. We will be back.

“A great Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

La Perla is Classy has an extensive menu and frankly is a good value for big city dining. We had a pasta dish and a veal dish. The patashio gelatto wa WONDERFUL. A nice touch at the end of the meal is the gratis homemade limoncello on the night we visited. we will be back.
