“It is convenient for adults visiting National Zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

We ate at the national zoo on the first visit, and food was terrible, and over priced. Second trip to the zoo we saw this little bar with outside seating just across from the main entrance. It isn't appropriate for children. Funky interior, and the man doing the bar came over to greet us as soon as we entered. Place wasn't busy, and you could tell there were a couple of regulars he called by name. My husband had the sirloin burger done medium with coleslaw and steak fries for $9.95. He said it was exceptionally good, and done just right. I had the BLT on wheat with the slaw and fries for $7.95. The bread size was a disappointment because of the small size, but overall a good value. Bar guy came over, and visited, asking where we were going. We had maps on the table. He helped us download a free app for DC Metro and buses, and then showed us how to use it. We were then able to use city bus to get to Georgetown. We had already conquered the Metro. Very nice friendly, helpful man. Food was a little slow coming, but we were not in a hurry. Very nice experience, and we avoided the dreaded zoo food!

“Blues & Jazz from Thursday through Sunday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Thursday is jam session. They have a house band & then others sit in & play their instruments or sing. Friday & Saturday nights, starting around 10 or 10:00 there are blues & jazz bands that play there once a month. No cover, but tips are encouraged. Fun!

“Just don't do it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Very disappointing lunch here on a Friday in August. Right across from the zoo and conveniently located. It was actually the first place we saw when we exited the zoo, and the outside looked cute. Service was beyond horrible. Took forever to even be acknowledged or get drinks. After a very long wait, our food was delivered minus one person's hamburger. The waitress came over to apologize, that the kitchen had forgotten that burger, etc. But we saw her bring out hamburgers to 3 more people before ours came, and it didn't come until the rest of us were completely done eating. Oh and the bathroom was out of order and there was absolutely no one to even tell about this, since it seemed that the waitress and a cook were the only employees on site. Obviously we would never go back.
