“Good French food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Try the steak with sauce au Roquefort and sauce au Poivre vert! The Beaujolais nouveau was really tasty. Good French food here.

“long wait but worth it...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

ordered mussels (their specialty), escargots, and foie gras platter for appetizers. decent and fast. no complaints there.

for entrees, we had the lamb stew (yummy), curried beef stew (a nice surprise this being a bistro and all), rabbit casserole (don't be squeamish; it's good!), and the cassoulet (good, but outshone by others). we eat with our eyes, so TOO MUCH FOOD FOR FOUR with the appetizers, so keep that in mind.

desserts are tarte au citron (lemon tart) and creme caramel...both good...

make a reservation like the week before you go, though they said we'd wait 15-20 minutes when we got there, which turned out to be accurate; we could just be lucky.

“bohemian oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

A great little place five minutes from Dupont Circle with a lively, bohemian vibe. Mussels are the specialty here (they literally arrive in buckets), but there's plenty tasty stuff for all palettes, with an excellent wine list to complement the fare. It's noisy, and perpetually crowded, but the owner/managers are amiable restauranteurs, and tables closer to the open front allow for a conversation that doesn't have to be shouted.

Found this place for a late lunch. Food was great and the lunch prices were very reasonable. Service was a little slow, but wewe were not in a hurry

“Good food, reasonable prices, bad service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

On 3 visits to Bistro du Coin, I've always been pleased with the tasty food: raclette, canard (duck), fish, tournedos, couscous. Dishes are more fatty (cream/butter etc...) than regular French food (I'm French born and raised) but very tasty.

The service is bad. In 3 visits, I've never seen the hostess smile. The waiters are unfriendly. One especially was very rude to us, patronizing and had the worse mouth breath ever!!

I guess this sums up a stereotypical French experience!! Haha.
