“A Decent Option”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Had dinner here the other night. The cocktails were great! We had sandwiches- all were quite good and reasonably priced. The service was good overall but a tad slow. I recommend checking it out.

“So disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013 via mobile

We had eaten here on a trip about three years ago and had really enjoyed our experience. It's in a great location in the main hall of Union Station. On this trip, we were meeting a friend and we selected this place based on our past experience and how easy it was for all of us to get to. I was so embarrassed that we were the ones who recommended it.

We were seated with no problem... the place was all but dead on a Saturday night (which should have been our first clue). Despite the fact that there were plenty of open tables, we were led to nearly the back of the restaurant and placed at a table outside the restaurant (it was still inside Union Station, but in a room where they have jewelry vendors, but all the vendors were gone and so we sat in this big, empty room). The server was attentive, but he was very difficult to understand (he mumbled).

We ordered our meal. I had the blue corn beef enchiladas and a hot tea. About the second bite of my entree, I literally had to spit it out into my napkin. The beef was cut into strips, but many of them were nasty and fatty and just not edible. I ate the shells with rice and guac and finally just gave up on my meal. When the server came back, my friend pointed out that I wasnt able to eat my meal. The server didn't say a word and he brought us the bill (no adjustment had been made, he didn't offer to get me something else, etc.).

We continued to stay and visit (only because we had no other place to go). The server seemed anxious for us to leave. He even told us that the restaurant was closing. So, we got up and walked out through the big empty room. However, when we reached the front of the restaurant, we saw the hostess seat another table. Apparently, it was our waiters end of shift and he was just ready to go. Ugh. So... we returned to our table to finish our discussion. Apparently, someone told our waiter that his table was still there and he couldn't leave, and he was not happy.

It was just a poor experience and we won't return.

“Good Food, comfortable atmosphere...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Lots of touring in DC and finally made it over to the Train Station after a long walk. Chose to eat here and it was very good. Late lunch - well done and very comfortable atmosphere in the booths in the bar. Cobb Salad and Burger with truffle fries. The bloody mary - not so good. Server was pleasant, timing was fine and overall it was relaxing and fun. Union Station is beautiful - as is all of DC NW.

“OK but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Food is perhaps slightly above average but nothing to rave about. I had the Buffalo chicken salad. A little light on both the quantitiy of chcken as well as on the level of spice (could have been spicier).

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

While visiting Union Station we decided to have some lunch and Thunder Grill as it had a great menu and was fairly busy. The food was fresh and tasty and well priced compared to other restaurants in this area. The service was fast and efficient and the staff were friendly and happy to accommodate your needs.
