We had just flown in from England and got way-laid on our journey due to Dulles being closed down for Hurricane Sandy was just coming in (and would hit large the following morning, this being Sunday night). We rented a car to escape the city and drive to our final destination, but not before deciding to take a little spin around the downtown area, maybe grab a bite.
Yes, the rain had started, but thats a minor part of the story: we circled the mall, a few monuments, shot some photos in the dark from the car, and decided to find some food for a nice dinner as a "welcome [back] to America" thing.
About a block from the White House, we decided on Bobby Vans Steakhouse. Wow. Nice old-school steakhouse vibe to it. Classy, staid, perfect attentive service, outstanding steaks dones to perfection.
Everything is ala carte, the sides were huge and inviting.
With the right drinks, coffee after, it was a perfect meal with which to fortify ourselves for the long drive ahead of use out of the city, westward and south.
Pricing was expensive, the meal impressive.
