“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Nice hotel, very clean, nice size rooms and convenient parking. It’s walking distance to GW Campus but a much longer walk to the museums and other main site seeing. No one to help with luggage, so if you have a lot, it may be a pain. The only other comment is if you looking for views of Washington outside your window, you won’t find it here. All and all it was fine for the overnight trip.

Room Tip: No one to help with luggage so if you have a lot it can be a pain. Not right in the middle of the ci...

staff was friendly, room was spacious and beautiful... very clean, new, stylish. i loved it. i drove, so being far from the metro was not an issue for me... but it should be noted there is only valet parking available. very near to the white house. wifi was free & worked great. my stay was very quiet. to me, the biggest asset of this hotel is the nice rooms.

Overall, this property was okay. Near all the monuments and white house, but a solid 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station. Bike share was right across the street. The main problem with this hotel is the inadequate use of noise proofing materials. Interior and exterior noise is excessive. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed with free Wi-Fi. TV was too small and I found the bed to be less than ideal (although not bad). The fitness room is great but the pool is tiny. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, I guess I'd stay here again.

This is a newer Courtyard but still shows some signs of wear (moldy calking in the shower etc.). We had a room on the backside with a stunning view of the side wall of the dorm next door. Check-in was easy and they were able to accommodate an early check-in (9:30am). Hotel café was expensive $$$ with the dining room seemingly infested with fruit flies. Location is about 0.5 miles from Foggy Bottom Metro station and the White House. Its in a college neighborhood (George Washington University). Valet parking only.

This is a hotel to which in will return. I felt welcomed from the time I walked in the front door. The room was not only attractive and spacious, but it had everything I needed to work- large desk with ample plug-ins, a table on wheels for more space, a TV on a swivel and a coffee maker and frig. The lobby cafe was the perfect place to carry out a salad. Everyone was helpful and friendly.

Next to the Courtyard in downtown Portland, this is the second nicest Courtyard in which I've ever stayed. Whoever designed the lighting did impeccable work. The construction of the room is also beyond reproach. I used to work in construction design, so I decided to look it over -- every nook and cranny -- once I was impressed with the overall work. I couldn't find one mishap with wallpaper placement, caulking, nothing. Everything was spot on. What a great contractor they used.

The bed is very comfortable (brand new) and the room, although small, is configured for optimal living efficiency. The coffee station with mini-fridge is a nice value add as well. If it weren't for the room size, this hotel should easily be rated 4 star.

Unlike some new Courtyards that have gone under renovation, this Courtyard hotel has retained not one bit of the old furniture, in an attempt to integrate to save money. All furniture is brand new and modern. The carpet is new. The backsplash tile in the bathroom was done well and is creative and a differentiator from other Courtyards.

The only negatives I found were the following, but depending on the individual they may be major:

1. The views from 3 of the 4 sides are horrendous: a back alley facing GW student dorm rooms, unfortunately.
2. The location is not optimal for METRO travel -- AT ALL. It is directly equidistant to 2 METRO stops and not close to either as a result (Farragut and Foggy Bottom). You're talking a 15 minute walk to the METRO station. Not good, normally, for me, but in this situation I never had to take the train, so didn't affect me. This could be a game changer, however, for a lot of people.

3. There are VERY few restaurants nearby. The closest line of restaurants are on I st. Keep in mind that the hotel is on the corner of 20th and E basically. It's a hike. There is a burger joint about 3 blocks away that was OK, as well as a CVS and a liquor/wine store with a very nice selection of craft beers and excellent chilled wine variety. But...that's about it for stores. There is also a Subway (packed with students at lunch) and a Starbuck's (worse packed with GW students) than Subway until 8:30 am that are directly adjacent to the hotel. Most restaurants are on I st. and it's about a 12 minute walk.

If you're working at Dept. of Interior or American Red Cross, this location is excellent. If you're just visiting the monuments, then this is not bad either. If you're doing anything else in DC, I'd advise against this property, as location is not great for anything else.

Room Tip: All rooms are about same size, unlike other Courtyards. The 06 stack has balconies, however. I thi...

Stayed at this property for one night. Staff was very nice from the moment we entered. Helpful in arranging a taxi for the next day and late check out. Located a few blocks from the National Mall. Valet parking was speedy upon arrival and departure.
The bathroom was modern and clean.
Bed was comfortable and even though you are in the city it was so quiet at night. DId not hear any outside noise at all.
