The place is a solid spot for either a show or a drink. I've been for both. The space downstairs used for live shows is pleasantly cozy with an adequately sized bar.
On other nights where djs are spinning, the bottom two floors are given up as space for dancing and such, while the rooftop has it's own bar/lounge where you may sit drink (and smoke simultaneously) and relax. It's on a decent strip, so if you feel like hopping around a bit, you're close enough to any number of other places. Some a bit douchey, some not. Anyhow, Rock & Roll Hotel is a good stop, for sure.
I do wish that their beer selection was a bit more varied, but that's my complaint about most places around DC. And I'm perfectly happy to sit and have a few Pabsts here.
