Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include “Best Place for Great Seafood” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and “Best Crab Cakes” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)

“Great experience all around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

Our hotel recommended this place for children. So we went with our baby and stroller. They were so nice from the moment we walked in. And the food was the best we've had in DC so far. Our server Cassie was so friendly. We have three more nights here and we might have to go back. The stuffed baked shrimp were awesome. And the crab cakes were the best we'd ever had. You won't be disappointed here.

“variety of upscale seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

I did not hesitate to choose Legal Seafood for my birthday and was not disappointed. There is a variety of seafood to choose from and very attentive waiters and waitresses.

“So good, I was happy to pay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Didn't think we would get a table it is such a popular place but as we came early we got in right away. The waiter was friendly and knew the menu inside out we had a few laughs over terminology and had a fabulous meal including the famous crabcake. The service was fast and efficient and the food awesome. Wish they had a restaurant in Australia.

“They Need Something for the Non-Seafood Person”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

I'm allergic to shellfish and do not eat fish. Hubby loves the place and it is good for seafood ... better than most and certainly better than most chains. That being said, a slight expansion of the non-seafood/fish menu for the landlubbers would be huge. Sometimes we have to be accommodating. There should be at least a beef/chicken/pasta alternative and something besides clam chowder
