“So glad we did this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

The show starts at 8pm and finishes at 10pm with an intermission about half way through. It is pacey and hilarious. The actors are all excellent and seem to be really enjoying themselves. Go out onto the Terrace at the Kennedy Center at intermission for a nice view of the Potomic and city lights. We sat in Row F and had an amazing view but were just far enough from the stage not to get pulled into the interaction with the actors. Beware, if you sit in the first two rows, you may get involved. The theater is newly renovated and looks amazing. It is bright, fun and every seat gets an excellent view. You can involve yourself in the murder mystery as little or as much as you like. During our night out, one of the "detectives" invited anyone out onto the Terrace with him to discuss clues during intermission and a group of 10 did just that. They put a lot of soul into this to make it a great night out. There are lots of topical jokes during the performance. We were are not from the USA and didn't get all the local references but it didn't take away from the fun night. I would say it is not suitable for children given some of the humor. There are plenty of toilets right close to the theater lab so you don't have to wait long at intermission. Also, if you want food or souvenirs, buy at intermission because they are gone when you come out at the end.

“Wonderful!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Went to this show last weekend in DC at the Kennedy center and it was a wonderful show!!!!! There is "audience participation", but only if you want to, so it is safe to sit up close without worry of being 'called on'. It was highly entertaining every second of the show, really! I didn't realize how funny it was going to be and others there were laughing a lot also! The tickets I bought were from ticketplace (online) so they were $24 (plus service chg), instead of $48, and they were available there at Will Call to pick up right before the show started....very convenient. Also, the Kennedy center has a free shuttle bus to and from foggy bottom metro that runs every 15 min. The wait after the show ended for it was about 10min. This show is highly recommended!!!!! This & the Capitol Steps show at the Ronald Reagan bldg were the Best nights!

“Shear Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

When we saw there had been over 11,000 performances of this play at the Kennedy Center, we felt it was something we had to do - but also worried that the cast would seem bored with it. We experienced just the opposite. Lovely, intimate theatre - not a bad seat in the house. We sat fourth row center & really felt like a part of the production. All of the cast members were excellent and they all seemed to be having a LOT of fun with their parts and with each other. It was over all too quickly.

“Excellent way to spend an evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

Beautiful looking set in the middle of a half moon shaped theatre. It seats about 300 but there were only about 100 there the night we went. The show probably wouldn't work so well if it were full.

First half is very funny but a lot of the gags are very topical and based on a bit of local knowledge so quite a lot went over my UK head but it didn't spoil it at all.

Second half the audience decides who committed the murder. It's not a traditional who-dunit. I was expecting there to be a "right" answer but the ending is changed depending on how the audience votes. I guess some of the clues change from performance to performance to make sure they don't keep getting the same result.

A very enjoyable night out.
