“Incredible Estate and Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Tours of the Home are very well done by trained, knowledgable, docents. The gardens are truly worth spending time in. The azaleas were in bloom and are in all colors. The cafe has a very nice menu and you can sit outside in view of the home and garden. This was my second visit but at a different time of year. I would return again.

“decorative art at its finest”

my favorite museum. The craftsmanship from the old Russian culture is an inspiration. Especially the icons and the eggs.

“Amazing”

Amazing house. Amazing gardens, Extra amazing collection of historical collectibles. If the cafe measured up it would be perfect.

“Lifestyle of the rich & famous”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Marjorie M. Post's style was a bit gaudy which was a little difficult to overcome, but we tried to overlook all the French inspired frou-frou and appreciate the Russian treasures that she was able to obtain in the 1930's. Oh what the inheritance of the richest lady in America could buy! The gardens were lovely. The cafe service and food were mediocre since the service was slow to finally deliver pressed turkey on dry bread.
Be aware that Hillwood is a half mile walk from metro and bus.
