“A glimpse at pre-Soviet Russian decorative art”

If you have any interest at all in pre-Soviet Russia, this is a great place to visit. At the right time of the year the gardens are also beautiful.

“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

It's hard to believe that this was MMP's actual house. She did live here, but so loved her beautiful things that it feels like a museum; a nice combination of posh and intimate. Not too many people have 30 foot marble dining room tables! I love the kitchen, unrestored since its inception in the 50s and very extravagent in itself. I also love her dressing room. She collected uncut crystal and used it to decorate a number of her chandeliers - and there's silver wallpaper. Don't forget the gardens. There's a brilliant little Japanese water garden just over the edge of the lawn; do explore it. Altogether, a wonderful half day.

“Niche museum, great for the specialist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

Know what you are going for - I like the collection and gardens, but maybe not to the taste of the average out of town tourist.

“Loved this...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

This was a lot of fun and information. They have either guided tours or self guided with headsets. We chose the headsets and enjoyed it. The home is gorgeous. Had lunch at the cafe...sandwiches and an apple dessert made with Post cereal grapenuts.
