Description: Chevy Chase is our third Washington, DC area location. Launched in February 2012, this 150-seat restaurant includes spacious indoor, outdoor, and private dining seating. Blending traditional and modern elements of Mexican craft and architecture, the warm and vibrant decor features Rosa Mexicano’s signature hues of pinks and purples. Multi-dimensional art work complements rich fabrics and textures, as well as a floor-to-ceiling display of tequila bottles. Directly over the bar and extending into the dining lounge area, the ceiling glows with pink haze lighting that is set against an electric blue tiled cascading water wall, inspired by those at sister Rosa Mexicano locations. The enclosed patio area features a wall of vertical colored glass bands, creating a focal point from the street and exhibiting arrival for the Rosa Mexicano experience that awaits. The restaurant’s location is just steps away from Chevy Chase Pavilion and stores such as Neiman Marcus, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Barneys, Gucci and more, among a variety of restaurants and hotels.

“Excellent food odd service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Ate there with family (w/teens) on a busy Saturday night. We were told there would be a 25 minute wait, we took a buzzer and went to the bar, passing empty tables en-route. Sat at a large bar table and was asked if we would like to eat there. So after a 5 minute wait to set the table we did.
The service was problematic with long occasional waits but the food was excellent. Guacamole was best I have had, though pricy; frozen Pom drink was tasteless, the only downer.

“Solid 'ritas, food, and atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

Their margaritas are quite good, can't go wrong. Food is solid, not average Mexican chain. I had great empanadas and mexicaesar salad for a nice balanced dinner. Their black bean refritos and (brown!) rice accompaniments to my wife's enchiladas were full of yumminessball. Sleek atmosphere, comfortable, and not pretentious.

“Upscale Mexican”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

International feel to this modern Mexican restaurant. The guacamole made fresh at the table was very good. My enchilada was covered in a mild tomato sauce. The kids' quesadillas were good, but unremarkable. My wife's flautas de pollo were interesting and tasty. Overall, it was a step up from the usual Mexican fare, and the prices reflected this.

“Delicious meat dishes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

Went there for dinner on a Sunday evening – picked it because I had been to one of the chain's locations in NYC and liked it. This one's in Friendship Heights (even though at first I had the impression it was on Conn Ave as the address was Chevy Chase) just on the edge of the Friendship Heights shopping area. It's in a glass and steel office building although pretty easy to spot due to the large red neon sign, the entrance itself however does not stand out as much. The interior is quite attractive, contemporary decor, ample spacing between the tables, lighting fairly dimmed - making it quite romantic – in the glass enclosed front porch area, but more brightly lit in the back where the booth seats are. We sat in the front – even though in the evening there's not a lot of people or activity on the street to see. Seemed to be quite popular for families with small children. Noise level quite low when less than half full. We had the short ribs – Tablones, mixed grill with beef and sausage – Alambre a la Mexicana, fish tacos, plus espresso flan for dessert. Both of the meat dishes were richly flavored and delicious, the tablones in particular was so tender the meat fell apart at the touch of the fork. In comparison the fish tacos were not as remarkable – mainly I think because I prefer grilled fish to deep fried. The espresso flan was unusual, it sits on a very thin base layer of brownie base, quite tasty (however I still wished they'd offer the classic regular flan as well). Service was attentive and friendly. Price on the higher side (over $100 for the 3 of us before tip, 3 mains, 2 desserts, one drink) but a good place to go for tasty and reliable food in a comfortable and pleasant dining environment.

“Not bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

The restaurant is nice, and the service was very good. The food was a bit bland for Mexican -- muted for American tastes. A bit pricey. Relaxing though.
