“Great Hotel & Renovations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We were in Georgetown for a long weekend and we loved this hotel. It has been remodeled recently and the guestrooms are large and done very well. The bathroom was especially nice and it wasn't just a typical renovation with paint and caulking. It really felt new and it was divided which is great for couples. The location is also great it's close to all of the shopping and restaurants in Georgetown and at the same time close to the monuments and the attractions of DC. We'll definitely stay here again. We actually attended a wedding at the Four Seasons which was great as well but we loved the Melrose!

Room Tip: Liked our room on the fourth floor. Didn't get a chance to compare any other rooms or locations

This hotel has serious management problems. My husband called early when he left for a meeting to have the room clean. He walked to the meeting and back and the room was not clean. He was hot and sweaty and wanted to shower. To make a long story short it took hours to get the room clean. He had to wait in the lobby. The staff was rude and unresponsive. They said that the telephone system was not working. They didn't offer to comp him in any way shape or form. Also none of the ice machines work so you have to call down and they bring up a bag of ice in a plastic bag. There are ice buckets in the room but they are totally irrelevant. This place needs an overhaul

Room Tip: Go elsewhere. This place is very expensive and the staff is rude and Incompetent.

I was pleasantly surprised with The Melrose and I wish I had given it a chance during my other stays in DC. We always stayed at the Palomar as it claims to be a luxe hotel but have never received such great service, anywhere. Parker greeted us at the front desk, made us feel incredibly welcome and generously upgraded us to a huge suite.

It's a very well kept hotel with a beautiful lobby and the rooms are impeccable. There's also a bar with happy hour. Win, win!

This is the kind of service that I always remember and plan on returning The Melrose for my next trips, for business as well as weekend getaways.

I stayed at the Melrose for two nights in connection with a business trip. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. I was particularly pleased by the comfortable firm king-sized bed and the many pillows, including bolsters. I usually have a hard time sleeping in hotels, but had no problem on this trip. The blackout curtain liner kept the room nice and dark, and the AC was not noisy or obtrusive. Sink and vanity section of the bathroom was separate from the toilet and shower/tub, and lighting was slightly better than in many hotel bathrooms, although both sections of the bathroom were fairly small. Rooms were fairly well insulated and I heard no noise from adjoining rooms. No view to speak of from Room 402, but I was there to sleep, shower, and change clothes, so view was immaterial to me (at least on this trip). Staff was extremely friendly, with Stanley at check-in being a particular standout. Coffee and tea were provided in the lobby during the morning, but unfortunately, I never got down to the fitness center to check that out. The hotel is 12-15 minutes by cab from Washington National airport (DCI) and there is also easy access by subway.

Although this was an older property, it is well maintained. The only negative I can find was the teeny elevators - but that is part and parcel of an older property and should not be taken as a criticism - just an observation. I would definitely consider staying at the Melrose again because of its convenient location, friendly staff, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable rooms.

Spent 3 nights here during our American Holiday. right on Georgetown's doorstep, loads of shops restaurants a couple of minutes walk. The room was big, crystal clean and really well equipped. The staff were just fantastic. Every single time we entered the hotel with out son who is in a wheelchair, the staff rushed to assist us in any small way possible. Would we go back ..... yes in a heartbeat. We can't recommend this hotel enough 10/10.

I stayed at the Melrose Georgetown for 3 nights in what they call an executive king suite.
I chose the hotel based on it's proximity to the Kennedy Center where I was attending a conference.

Pros: The room was large and clean. The staff was friendly. The bed and linens were good. The location, in addition to being convenient to my destination, was adjacent to Georgetown and there were plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance. Checkout time is noon.
Cons: The bathrooms were small and not very modern. The plumbing was noisy - water running clearly audible from an adjacent room, and the AC was quieter but also noticeable. The overall decor was kind of freshly spruced up with paint, moldings, and wall coverings, but only skin deep from an older incarnation. Similarly, the furniture was newish but kind of cheap.
The free wifi network was only visible to my devices about once a day for like 10 minutes and even then it didn't work. It wasn't a big deal to me so I didn't bother complaining and just used a cell data connection.
Finally, my incidental charges at checkout included $25 worth of minibar water charges which I had not consumed. This kind of thing may well be systemic because when I complained they did not seem surprised and removed the charges without the slightest hesitation or comment.

Overall, it wasn't awful but I would probably not choose the Melrose again.

Room Tip: Not sure if it varies by room or just doesn't work well but if wifi signal matters to you check...

Ideally positioned near the shopping (M and Winsconsin street) and touristic places / museum, everything can be done walking (and coming back in subway in case you are tired). Rooms have plenty of space and classy.
Gym is very well equipped, wifi free (had hotels requesting 12$/day afterpaying 170$ the room...) and overall personnel service simply outstanding.

Room Tip: we requested a room on the high floor (7th), perfect on all points
