“Great Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

Not only is The Melrose a beautiful hotel but the staff were amazing. Tamica at the front desk went above and beyond to help me when my phone was lost and needed to be replaced. I appreciated all of the extra time she took to help me during what was a very stressful time.

Boutique Hotel means NO coffee pot in your room. No MicroWave..... and uncomfortable sitting furniture in the room. The sofa was small nd difficult tosit in.
The hotel has a Lot of tourist....who just wander around the lobby. The hotel is mostly Spanish ... with a lot of South Americans visiting.

The staff is JUST OK.

Look at other hotel to see what fits you best.

Close to restaurants...and metro
overall....just OK

I have stayed in this hotel many times over the last decade. It is conveniently located, reasonably priced, and a good venue for meetings.
On my last visit I was pleasantly surprised by the major remodelling in the rooms, lobbies, and meeting rooms. Some of these changes have also spilled over to better food, friendly and efficient staff, and excellent front door service.
Recently I have needed to use some medical devices in the room, with supplies being shipped to the hotel. All of this support was handled well and efficiently.

Room Tip: We asked for a room near the elevators and were accommodated.

This is a great hotel in a great location, room clean & neat and overall very nice, but if you need the staff for anything (including front desk) you will find a friendly smile but no followup at all. aside from that I will stay again.

I have written several reviews on this hotel over the years but it is time for an update because it is now back to it's best.
The ice machines don't work, my plumbing broke and the wine list is amongst the worst I have ever seen anywhere in the World (and believe me I have been to some pretty crumby places). But what has changed over the last 6 months is the staff have a new self belief, a genuine commitment to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and smile because they enjoy their work - and in this industry that is priceless. Things break, things go wrong but how the people who look after you in those situations makes the difference.
It is probably not fair to single people out because the change is across the board but I can not write about the change without making reference to examples. The first person you will meet, assuming you don't arrive on her day off (Sunday) is Jessie. Technically all she has to do is open the door park your car and get you a taxi. But she is more than happy to go well beyond these duties to make sure everything works. Next you will meet Bilal on the front desk and again nothing is too much trouble. And finally you will meet Jose behind the bar. And here I have to be bitter sweet, Jose is excellent and empitamises the new attitude, but he is only here because the management through Jorge under the train to save their liquor license.
So big respect to the new team, because of you this place is back to its best.
Now will you please fix the ice machines......again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Melrose hotel over a weekend recently while we were down in DC visiting friends. The hotel was great. Check-in was very efficient. I booked a king suite for an additional $30 a night and found the room to be exceptionally large and generally in good shape.

The bed was extra comfortable and had great pillows which is not always the case at places I have stayed. I would say the bathroom was only so-so, probably a 4/5 stars, but it was clean and in acceptable shape. Other than that, the location is right in the heart of the city and a short cab from anything you'd want to see. I'd recommend the the hotel to anyone.

As a side note: Beware Parking at the hotel is $48 per night and self parking in the area is $30...

It was really pleasant to stay at this hotel, the people were helpful and friendly. Especially there is this wonderful lady called Jessie, she is the valet but she was so helpful that when she saw us sitting outside at the terrace she offered herself to bring us the drinks, isn´t that wonderful? This is the kind of attitude that must be praised.

Room Tip: Not close to the elevators.
