“Lots of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

The original home of Frederick Douglass... it is full of history and original artifacts. It sits on top of hill in the historical Anacostia area of DC.

“Great View of DC and a Great Man”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2012

The visitor's center is small, but informative. Tours of the Victorian home give insight into Frederick Douglass and his work.

“View of Washington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

I have waited so long to be able to visit the house of Frederick Douglass, I normally travelled at the wrong time of year and kept missing out on the trip out to visit him home, this year I made it my first booking, It is so worth a visit and the house is kept as best it can in his time. His little rest area that he would go to for quite away from his grandchildren did not have any windows in it. Considering the wonderful view of Washington I could not understand why he would shut himself away. Iam so glad I was able to make my visit there at last. As it has taken 7 years to try and visit.

“Do not travel all the way to DC and miss this attraction. A must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2011

First thing I need to say, "please make reservations first." Standby reservations are usually not available to tour the insideof the house. The house is very large and most everthing is original. You can see the Capital from the house. I enjoyed it very much. Well worth the time. Great information given by the tour-guide.
