“You will spend hours here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

Comprehensive exhibition of spy tactics old and new. Self paced, lots of reading, not enough to hold little kids attention. In the begining there is an emphasis to pretend you're a spy, select a persona, and memorize your false identity. Don't waste your time. Skip the first interactive stations that are a bottle neck and go explore! It's a really interesting place!

“Washington, DC, Museums”

Worth a good long visit for the whole family. Started off looking too touristy but had a lot of interesting exhibits and interactive displays of the history of spying/espionage. I would visit again.

“Fascinating, educational and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2011

We were very pleasantly surprised by this museum. AAA said to allow 2 hours and we spent over 4 there. It is really a history lesson from Biblical times through to the present through the activities of spies. We are seniors and experienced some of that history but didn't know the half of it, so to speak. We noticed that kids and teens were less interested although they seemed to enjoy the hands on part. We've visited most of the National Museums and this ranks as one of the best! The admission price was very reasonable for the value received. We did not try any of the field trips but they sound like fun.

“Great place for tweens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2011

Having kids in the 11-13 age range, it is hard to find places to visit that we all enjoy. They get bored easily at most museums. Our entire family really enjoyed the International Spy Museum on our trip to DC over spring break. We bought tickets for Operation Spy and for general entrance to the museum. We did Operation Spy first, and it was just the four of us on the "mission". It was fun and low key and the right amount of suspense for our family. I do think it would not have been as much fun with a larger group.

The museum itself was impressive, although my kids enjoyed it for about an hour. There was not as much interactive activities as I expected after we all memorized our new cover identities at the beginning, and that was a bit of a disappointment, but over all we really enjoyed our visit. We were there almost five hours. I would definitely not bring young children to this museum because they would not enjoy it.

It is relatively expensive, but was one of the highlights of our trip for all of us.

Hello,

Before I Thank you for your visit and review I would like to say you and your family must be really great Spies. We have Operatives roving the museum testing guest on their secret identity that they pick in the beginning of the museum and your team out spied them all. I apoligize if they missed you. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review about your visit. Young Spies usually spend about 1 hour reviewing the museum. Glad to hear you and your family enjoyed the museum. Keep Spying and have a great day!!!
