“Friendly, relaxed atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

My wife and I stayed here during a conference we were both attending nearby and it was a great way to escape and relax after the end of a busy day. We really appreciated the old rooms with no TV! The owner, Jack, went out of his way to make sure our needs were completely met. The home-cooked breakfast made it a great blend between a small hotel and a bed & breakfast. We both came away feeling we had found a new place to stay at during our semi-regular trips to DC.

Room Tip: Some rooms do not have private baths

Have stayed multiple times instead of the expensive hotel down the street. A nice short walk to the conference and much more relaxing.

Jack is a great host and I recommend this place to everyone, now I just have to get my room early before they sell out.

This is our third stay at the Kalorama, but the first under Jack's
ownership. He cooks a delicious breakfast each morning, along
with cereals, bagels, breads and terrific coffee.
The location is ideal : close to metro, shops and many restaurants.

Rooms that feel like a private bathroom in an exclusive older home, but with all the amenities (i.e., high speed internet) of a big hotel chain square box room. Throw in a hot breakfast, a refrigerator stocked with YingLing bottled beer, cold bottles of water, coffee, cookies made fresh each day that are all included in the price of the room. Finally, the location on a beautiful street that is one of Washington DC's well kept secrets, a block away but a world apart from the metro, and you have found your own oasis in the hustle and bustle of life in the Capitol 5 Stars!

Room Tip: A room with private bath.

The host/owner, Jack, is extreemly friendly and helpful. He cooks a good full breakfast every morning. Cookies are available in the afternoon. Jack is very helpful with local information. The actual room was comfortable and clean but not four star. Overall I would reccomend the Kalorama highly. My son and I enjoyed our conversations at the breakfast table with fellow tourists.

Jack is a gracious host, making sure each guest gets acquanted with others who are present, without being a busy-body, of course. Hot breakfast, hot cookies, beer and wine, sharing with other travelers - what more do you want?

Room Tip: Single "basement" rooms are fine. Actually ground level.

Jack was a great host, couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The guest house is close to transport, either the tourist hop on hop off bus, or trains, to get into the center of Washington to see all those amazing highlights
