“Home away from home with wonderful warmth and hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

The Kalorama guest house is beautiful! From the moment we arrived, Jack made us feel welcome and at home. The other guest were great to visit with in the common living areas. The rooms were spotless, with all the amenities you'd need. It was quiet and we were able to get a good nights rest. Jack made us an awesome hot breakfast. His smile and hospitality made us feel right at home. The location was in a nice quiet
neighborhood that was a few blocks away from the metro train and bus. Our experience at the Kalorama is definitely a 5 star! We will absolutely stay here again next time we travel to DC. Thank you Jack for everything you did to make our stay warm and inviting!

Kalorama Guest House is a wonderful old house in a DC neighborhood. Very clean and well run. The host, Jack, was very personable and considerate. It was a slow period and we rec'd a complimentary upgrade on our room which we really appreciated. Breakfast was excellent and generous with plenty of food and choices. The room we had was a bit small but I think typical of these old houses. Bed was solid and very comfortable. And considering costs today I thought the price was reasonable. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend Kalorama to anyone headed to DC. You will be treated well and you will be near the metro in an excellent location to get around.

My fiance and I looked high and low throughout the DC and Maryland area for a place to host our wedding. When several inquiries to churches in the area were WAY out of our price range, we started looking into alternative locations. My fiance searched for local Bed and Breakfast locations, and discovered the Kalorama Guest House. From the very first time we spoke with Jack, he was very professional and extremely helpful.

We fell in love with the place instantly! It provided the perfect environment we were looking for - small and intimate, with a home atmosphere. Jack, of course, was extremely helpful all the way through the process - clearly laying out the requirements in advance, expanding our options for the reception (we decided to have it in the lobby/waiting area of the Guest House), even helping us in preparing the room (Room 101) for the ceremony. When various family members inquired of places to stay for the weekend of the wedding, Jack was able to be of tremendous help by providing places to stay for everyone!

All of our guests loved the Kalorama Guest House, and we had a wonderful wedding and reception there! It was everything we wanted! We made the right decision when we got married here! And we recommend it to anyone looking to get married IN the District!

the Kalorama guest house was great. I live in the area and decided to have my wedding here at the guest house. it was a small wedding, about 16 people total with just close family and friends, and we wanted a small, classy, intimate venue. the Kalorama guest house was perfect for the ceremony and reception. the owner was very kind and accommodating. my family was able to stay there over night which was convenient for us to not travel around since they were all coming from out of town.
I had my wedding here in the winter, but it would work for a small group during literally any season. it is really a lovely place and Jack really is a wonderful host!

We loved everything about the Kalorama Guest House. Jack was the best host we could have hoped for. Loved the full breakfast every morning and the lovely room we stayed in. The location was excellent, close to the zoo, subway and lots of excellent reasonably priced restaurants. We will recommend Kalorama Guest House to any friends planning a trip to Washington D.C.

Jack makes your stay at the Kalarama Guest house as close to visiting a relative you have never met. We sat with him drinking wine and beer on his front patio with other guests from France and a friend from nearby. The metro is just three blocks down Connecticut Ave. with quick access to the Smithsonian museums. Every block has a list of ethnic restaurants that make you feel like you were traveling the world!.

I have stayed at Kalorama Guest House several times now, and it really beats those expensive hotels. The location is both convenient and beautiful. Located on Cathedral Ave in NW. it is close to the Metro and many restaurants, as well as the zoo. The owner is very nice and helpful, he will really go out of his way to make sure you're happy and comfortable. I always stay in a basement room. It is less than a hundred dollars, and very cozy. There is always breakfast in the morning and cookies in the afternoon upstairs too. I give Kalorama Guest House the highest marks!
