This is a wonderful bed-and-breakfast and we're so glad that we booked a room with them after spending a lot of time on the internet searching for the perfect place to stay over Labor Day weekend for our first real DC tourist trip after living in Baltimore for many, many years. The Blue Sky Suite is on the top floor and just a beautiful room, and the extra sitting room makes the place feel very spacious. There are a number of windows yet none look out directly on any other houses, so there is a lot of privacy. Never had a problem with noise from the nearby dog park, or from the street for that matter. The air system is a bit loud though - I'm actually surprised it didn't wake me up each time it kicked in at night. The whole building is full of charm and the outdoor pool is a great place to just relax and unwind after a long day touring around DC. It was around 90 degrees during the afternoons when we were visiting so that made it especially nice. The snacks and sherry they put out in the late afternoon were much appreciated. I especially liked how they left the sherry out late at night, so one could have a nightcap after coming home from dinner! The hostess, Ashley, was simply the best. She is the utmost professional and always made us feel at home. We loved the hot entrees at breakfast every morning (served on weekends and long weekends, but not during the week I think). The rest of the breakfast offerings were more basic but quite good, including hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. We felt very welcome at Swann House as a gay couple. The building is located near two different Metro stops (about 10 min walk to either one) but you can also walk rather easily to Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan. Overall we highly recommend this charming bed-and-breakfast in Washington DC.
