We stayed here for a few nights over Christmas 2011. The hotel is gorgeous and has lots of character. The staff was very welcoming of our dog, providing bowls for food and water and a very nice dog bed. The room had everything you want and had that great Klimpton Hotel style. I always like their animal print robes. The location is fantastic for exploring Washington D.C.

The Monaco Hotel was a friendly and very welcoming hotel to stop in, Idealy situated for touring Washington. The highlight everyday at 17:00 is the free beer and wine in the lobby. Breakfast was very good, we were give vouchers for everyday which you could use as part payment towards your meal

I just booked my third stay at the Monaco in the last six months. The location can't be beat, the hotel has character throughout. I NEVER order room service, but I did during my last stay...twice...and both meals were great! But, best of all, I've never experienced the level of service from all the staff that I have here. They go above and beyond to ensure every stay meets expectations. They're friendly, helpful, responsive, and sincere. They make you feel special...what a tremendous feeling.This is by far the BEST place to stay in DC.

The Monaco is in a beautiful old building which used to be a Post Office so it has long wide corridors which give a great sense of space. The room was very spacious and the bed so comfortable. But it is the wonderful staff who make the place. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, always smiling and saying hello. The concierge gave us great tips for restaurants which were all spot on, and directions for good shops in Georgetown. The quality of the staff combined with the happy hour in the "living room" and the fresh cookies each afternoon really transform the Monaco from a nice hotel to a wonderful hotel. The happy hour means that guests spend time enjoying the hotel instead of just passing through on the way to their room. The hotel is also in a perfect location - easy walk to the Washington Convention Centre or the Mall with all the museums, across the road from the National Portrait Gallery, beside the Spy Museum, along the road from the Ford Theatre and surrounded by incredible restaurants. You certainly won't need a taxi but if you want to take a train the station is across the road. This is a perfect hotel if you like small-medium hotels that are not boring. Thanks to all the staff for making our Washington stay so enjoyable. Stay here.
