“Very pleasant room, 29th St. Building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2012

My stay started 'on the left foot', since I expected to be on 30th St (closer to my conference) - but I quickly found that that didn't matter much - lots to see in Georgetown, so walking an extra block or two was OK. The staff were helpful and pleasant.
My 'living room' area was clean, bright and fairly large, with desk, TV area, table and chairs (set for 4!). The kitchen (real stove, sink, refrigerator) was clean and adequate, though minimally furnished. The bedroom had no window, but that was a small price to pay for having a separate bedroom. Nice linens, comfortable bed, good-sized closet. The bathroom was small but clean and well lit. Everything worked well, including the free internet connection - which is a hassle in many hotels.
The lobby was a bit small, since it also served as the breakfast room. The complimentary breakfast buffet was satisfactory, if not exactly 'gourmet'. There were fresh fruits, juices, microwaveable egg&cheese biscuits, pastries, brew-your-own coffee, etc. - nice, especially since I didn't expect breakfast to be included.
The Georgetown location is great - many interesting shops and restaurants in walking distance. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but it hardly matters, since there is so much available nearby in terms of restaurants and take-out places.

Great location in historic Georgetown with its abundance of interesting shops, restaurants and the C and O Canal nearby. The check in staff were very helpful and efficient. Our room was large and airy and we enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep but the bathroom was very tired looking. The breakfast buffet was adequate.
Short walk to the Metro and overall a reasonable place to stay for a short break in a wonderful city.

I stayed at the Georgetown Suites for 3 nights while on vacation. The location is amazing--we were on the 30th street building-- in fact, that would be why I would give it such a high rating. The overall room was large, (stayed in a studio w/kitchen) however it was very out-dated. We didn't spend too much in the actual room, however if we were to have wanted to cook, you would have had no problem with the available dishes/pots and pans.

The pricing was overall a great deal-- typically you can find some great deals through their facebook page (just need to 'like' their page), also you can do a few different searches through their website for different packages. We stayed over halloween so it was a bit more pricey, however looking at different weekends it's definitely more accommodating than other hotels in the area.

There was free internet, which is a major bonus these days, and for the price, I would recommend it if you are looking for something that is close to it all! (M street is within minutes, and there are numerous good spots to shop, as well as hop on and off the buses!)

Thanks for your accommodations Georgetown Suites. --Look forward to staying with you again in the future, as I hear you are going through quite the renovations!

Room Tip: When checking in, make sure to ask if there are any complimentary room upgrades. At the time there w...

My girlfriend and I booked the Georgetown Suites as a place to spend a New Year holiday together. She lives in Texas and I live in Ireland so we decided to meet in Washington DC to spend 10 days together. We had each searched the internet looking for suitable accommodation and, interestingly, we both identified Georgetown Suites as a potentially ideal venue, so we booked it. We were located in the 30th Street building and we had a non-smoking Studio Suite. Overall, we had a very good experience but wanted to share the plus and minus features which may be of help to people in the future. So, here goes....................

On the positive side, the apartment was spacious (about 600 sq.ft.) and we had a kitchen, bathroom and lounge/bedroom/dining area. There was good storage for our clothes. The bathroom was clean, modern and had a bath with excellent, integrated shower and constant hot water. The kitchen was clean, modern and had cooker, microwave, coffee-maker, toaster and dishwasher. We had a really comfortable, huge big king-sized bed and the bed linen was spotless and cosy. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels etc provided. In the main room, we also had a dining table which was set for us each day, with cloth napkins etc. and we had a three-seater sofa bed and lounge chair beside a large flat-screen TV and coffee table. We had free internet wi-fi access 24/7 and AC in the room. There was a safe box in the closet. Although we didn't use it, there was free breakfast available in the dining room, off the lobby every morning. There are lots of nice shops and restaurants nearby and a cinema very close to the accommodation (AMC Loew at 3111 K Street). The nearest supermarket (CVS) is just a 5 minute walk away. Once you get on the Metro (subway) it is just a ten minute ride to downtown. You can walk it in 40 minutes or so, which basically brings you to the west end of the Mall, at the Lincoln Memorial.

On the negative side, when we arrived and checked in, the room they gave us, although very nice, was much smaller than we anticipated and it also only had one lounge chair (no sofa). We asked for a change and this was arranged immediately with no hassle. The kitchen was quite poorly stocked with utensils/saucepans etc and we had to ask for some more cutlery and crockery. The nearest Metro station, Foggy Bottom, is a good 15 minute walk away. Perhaps we were just unlucky but, in the street outside the room (29th St.) we were in (#221), from early in the morning, there was a lot of noise outside our window, from large dumper trucks going back and forwards collecting trash. It seemed to go on for hours every morning.

Taking everything into consideration, we were very pleased we booked Georgetown Suites for our stay. The price we paid was $105 per night, which seemed very reasonable. You certainly save a lot of money by being able to cook dinner for yourself each day instead of paying restaurant prices.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room on the no-smoking side of the building because, even in the corridor, the o...

My family stayed at the Georgetown Suites for a week during Thanksgiving 2011. The hotel has 2 buildings in the center of Georgetown, on 29th and 30th Streets. Our 1 bdrm suite was in the 30th St location, facing 29th, on the 6th flr. Their was construction on 29th at the time, but it usually didn't begin until about 7 AM, which was when we were arising. The noise wasn't too bad, but was audible. The entrance is nicely situated in a groomed courtyard with a circular drive, accomodating a leisurely check in and departure. This little alcove also makes the hotel feel off the beaten path, while it's really just steps from all the fun and excitement of the neighborhood. It has a small, modest lobby and an inadequately small breakfast area for a hotel of its size. All of the common areas of the hotel, including the bkfst area, laundry room, and parking garage, were well-maintained. WiFi was great. The desk staff was helpful, except for the tour they suggested, which was not what was advertised nor what they said it would be (Big Bus Open Top), but that's another review. The room was very clean, bed was super comfy and new (including linens), and flat tv's and furniture appeared new. I have never seen more closet space in a hotel room; there's even a walk-in with a dresser in it. There was a nicely set dining room table waiting upon arrival, complete with dishes, silverware, wine glasses, and placemats. That made us feel welcome and ready to settle in. The kitchen had an oven, stove, full refrg, microwave, cabinets, coffeemaker, toaster, and minimal pots and pans. We didn't cook, but it was a nice option. We did load up on cold foods and some microwaveable stuff, including wine, at the local Trader Joe's, which by the way, has its own parking garage. The kitchen was VERY dated and needs to be replaced soon. It reminded me of some of the apartments I rented in college, and was probably as old. It was pretty clean, just worn. The bathrooms were about the same, but everything else was so nice and we were getting a great price + free parking, so we overlooked it. I would not pay full rack price for this hotel. We tried to get a comforter for my son, who was supposed to use the sofa bed, but were only able to get a thin blanket. The housekeeper, who said she'd been there for years, insisted they did not have any extra comforters like the ones on the beds, only blankets. I think it would be a minimal investment for the hotel to keep a few extra comforters for guests who request them. Our rooms were cleaned and tidied nicely every day (even the dishes!). The suite was huge! It was a luxurious amount of space to have as visitors in the middle of such a large city. I cannot say the same for the common breakfast area, which is woefully small for the number of guests. It was okay, and the breakfasts were okay, but could use a little variation and more fresh fruit or hot offerings. The coffee and pastries were good and I was happy they had plain yogurt. The parking garage was a pleasure to use, and about the best set-up for a hotel I've ever seen. It was an easy in and out, clean and dry, and accessible from the hotel elevator. No restrictions on coming and going. The downsides to this place were minor compared to its benefits. Overall, we had a pleasant stay with minimal inconvenience. I think with small adjustments, this could be a top-notch hotel. I hope that kitchen and bath renovations are in the works and that we'll be seeing the Georgetown Suites again in full grandeur, as we'd like to return.

Room Tip: Ask about construction noise; some rooms have balconies, but you have to ask; ask for a recently ren...

This hotel has a good location, however my room smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. This is supposed to be a non smoking facility, but for the entire Thanksgiving weekend the smell of smoke came through the vent which is located right next to the bed.I complained everyday to no avail. When I got home and unpacked my bags, everything smelled like smoke too. I told the manager and she gave me a $60 reduction in my parking fees. I feel like it was a small restitution for a big problem. Rooms definitely need updating and a good cleaning in the bathroom.

Thank you for sharing your comments. Georgetown Suites consists of two buildings located a half block apart. Our Harbour Building, on 29th St NW, is a completely non smoking building. Our 30th Street building offers mostly nonsmoking rooms, but does offer some smoking rooms as well, I apologize that you could smell the smoke from another guest's room. I'm glad you let the Front Desk Manager know and she was able to make a gesture to apologize for the inconvenience. We are in the midst of updating our suites with new furniture and kitchen upgrades. We hope you will come back and stay with us again!

Wife, College Age son and I spent two evenings over Thanksgiving weekend. Great location as we could walk to M Street shops and bars. Cabs were very easy to come by. Parking was $30 per day. Morning breakfast was mediocre. No real resturant or bar on property (no big deal, other are close). Elevators were very slow, especially from the garage below. I gave up and walked around the building after check in as elevator from garage was so slow. Construction of the building and decor was fairly low end. Still, the location was excellent and the bed was comfortable.
