“Vibrant place, good food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Took the family for dinner on a Saturday night, everyone enjoyed the meal. Staff was very accommodating, food delicious. Unusual concept since its truly American food and spirits: only US wines on the list, US-made spirits, etc. The space is very open and appealing. Crowd ran the gamut from families to couples on dates.

“Good food and good atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

We had a great dinner here, with three different entrees and desserts, including delicious fish and vegetarian pot pie. The sorbets were fresh and delicious, and the attentive waiter and quick service made this memorable for our last evening in DC.

“Nice alternative, good people watching too”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

After a disappointing dinner the night prior, our expectations for our second dinner in the District were pretty high, and we were pleased with our choice. It did get noisy but our booth along the windows at the corner was a nice view of the summer tourists and residents going home from work. All our meals were great, my Roast Duck was tender and flavorful. My colleague enjoyed the rib eye cooked perfectly. Seafood chowder starter was done well, pass on the Ranch oyster crackers. Funnel cake dessert was a treat and my colleague's Boston Cream pie was delicious. Save for the noise level, a great dining experience.

“Great food and kid friendly. ”

We had a great experience here. The brick pressed chicken was a hit with everyone. I think we will go again before we leave. Early dinner with kids a good experience. Recommended by hotel too.

“Staff Training Badly Needed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

My 4th visit to District Commons on Father's Day was a big disappointment. The server lacked knowledge about what was included in entrees and as a result I ordered a salad when in fact there was a salad that accompanied my entrée. In addition, the food presentation was disappointing. My husband ordered a steak and egg dish and the presentation was poor. We compared it to a creative presentation that we had experienced at Ray's the Classics in Silver Spring. The entire experience was disappointing and for almost $70 for two for brunch without alcohol or coffee - the meal was definitely not worth it. I will not return.
