Great DC location near the White House and Washington Monument. Old building with charm. Nice cozy bar with inside and outside seating. Nice decor but some rooms have small closets. Close to metro station.

Room Tip: As for room facing the street.

We spent 4 days at this location, the service is outstanding except housekeeping and room service. The little details executed properly makes the difference between a 4 star and 5 star hotel. Bathroom toiletries replenished, towels replaced daily, room service availability at all reasonable times. I was not expecting large dogs as hotel guests, are they limited to certain rooms? The food prices were pricey. Breakfast for 2 at + $50 total a little steep. Gratuities should be earned not a guaranteed portion of your check. $6 for a cup of black coffee for carry out is extreme!

A very comfortable hotel with a French accent, the Sofitel is well located two blocks from the White House, a fifteen minute walk from the Mall, and two blocks from the Metro.

We had a large bedroom with a comfortable, slightly soft king bed with twin reading lamps and electric outlets over both nighttables. There was ample closet space, a bit short on hangers. The room was well appointed except that there was no coffee or tea maker. The bathroom had a large stall shower with non-skid stone floor and a tub, but only a single sink. Complimentary bottled water was left in our room the first two of the three nights we were there.

Breakfast was an excellent value. The menu was only a la carte, with a dish plus beverage priced from around $14 to $23, plus tax and an 18% service charge. Portions were large and included a complimentary basket of croissants and French breakfast pastries.

There is free internet in the business center; $10 per day in the rooms.

The Sofitel wasn't cheap, but neither was anyplace else in the area that looked like we would want to stay there. It was no bargain but we enjoyed our stay.

The deli across the street offers a great selection of sandwiches and soups.

When I arrived, the hotel didnt have a room and three people were handling one person. I ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get to a room. The lobby was crowded and the rooms were okay but not great. However, the food in this hotel is truly extraordinary. The best hotel food I have ever had. And I go to places like the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Executive Chef Franck Loquet does a spectacular job creating menus for iCi Urban Bistro, Le Bar and In Room Dining. He focuses on the quality and freshness of the ingredients, as well as utilizing a seasonal selection of produce. We do our best to accommodate early arrivals, but we guarantee guest rooms for check in at 3pm. We are happy to securely store your luggage in the meantime, and we can provide you with a map and guidance to walk around the nearby sites, or sit on the patio to enjoy a drink or a snack while you wait. And you can take advantage of the complimentary WIFI as well!

Truly,

Was in DC for only one night to visit our son at college, decided to stay downtown to enjoy the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin, chose the Sofitel due to the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor. Couldn't agree more with the reviews. The hotel is beautiful, service exceptional. We were able to check in a few hours early which I was grateful for. Parking is steep at $42 a night. Valet parking only so add a tip on to that. I read some people complaining about being charged for hi-speed internet-we didn't opt for that and my husband was able to access work email without a problem so it wasn't an issue for us. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The only complaint was when I turned down the comforter to go to sleep there was no top sheet. Had to call downstairs for one, which was delivered within a few minutes. Unfortunately, I had to fix the bed at 11pm after a long day, but that was minor. The hotel is within walking distance to the White House and all the monuments and museums...really, it's a perfect location. McPherson metro station is right around the corner. Did not eat at the restaurant but did enjoy a cocktail during happy hour at the bar, which is a nice space. The front desk manager, Matthew, was extremely helpful when I had questions about an upcoming trip. He helped us at check-in and the next day at check-out. Very nice! I would highly recommend the Sofitel in Washington DC.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are inside rooms-no view. The luxury rooms face 15th St. We stayed on the 7th floor...

Staff were wonderful, the front desk, bar tenders, bell hops and concierge were always friendly and helpful. My wife was worried about the traffic noise as they gave us a third floor room. We inquired about a change but still wanted to have a view. Nothing was available that night but they said to try again tomorrow. We slept fine, forgot about the request and when we returned to our room after being out all day, they had saved us a corner room on the 10th floor. The hotel bar seems always to be hopping, I'm a beer drinker and would recommend the Old Dominion a local brew on tap. I stayed at a number of 5 star hotels over the years and this place has done it right. Great location steps from the White House, the hotel building itself must be 80-100 years old.

We have stayed at sofitels all over the east coast. Their staff, by far, consistently exceed expectations. They always go the extra step. Delivering a small robe and slippers with milk and cookies for my toddler was not requested.....but graciously accepted.

One of the top hotel lines for true customer service. Thanks for a great stay!
