“Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Just one block from the White House the Sofitel Hotel is a boutique hotel with very friendly staff beginning with the doormen, front desk, and room service staff. Free computer services are available in the lobby area but there is a charge for room computer access. Parking is expensive but no worst than other hotels in the area. Plenty of eating establishments within two blocks. What a shocker when room service arrived at our door at 10:30 pm with four warm chocolate cookies and a glass of milk which we had not ordered. If you need directions anywhere Ray at the front door is the "go to" guy--tell him you are a Redskins fan and you will be a standout for your entire stay. Free coffee is available in the morning in the lobby where the restaurant is located. Definitely a hotel for adult travelers--not a lot for kids to do.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper corner room with a view. Some sides of the hotel face a wall a few feet away from...

Thank you for choosing Sofitel for your visit in Washington D.C. It seems you were able to enjoy a true Sofitel experience from your interactions with our ambassadors, and that is our primary goal every day for each of our guests. You are correct, Ray does love those Redskins!! We hope to welcome you back again soon.

My room was ready upon arrival. The room was small, but nicely appointed. Very close to the White House. The Bose music system was a nice touch in the room. The bar in the lobby was very nice, too. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was nice, but on the expensive side.

I love this hotel. Set in a low rise building in what I think of as fin de siecle architecture, it is in a good location, and offers great service, and most of all, rooms that are nicely appointed and very very comfortable.
Breakfast offers a range of interesting options and I particularly love the outdoor seating area adjacent to the dining room where from breakfast to late evening one can sit outdoors and enjoy the vibe.

Room Tip: The junior suites are just lovely and if you are having an extended stay in DC should yourself the u...

My husband and I visited D,C for the first time and after trawling through websites of various hotels, we opted for Sofitel as it was in a great location and looked really lovely.
We weren't disappointed.
Previous to our stay I received an e-mail asking what my preferences would be regarding room and facilities...........impressive.I requested a quiet room and that's exactly what we got.
Our check-in procedure was efficient and friendly with a member of staff taking our cases to the room for us.
Every morning the hotel offers complimentary tea and coffee in the Le Bar.............something you never experience in America!
Every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly and willing to answer any questions we had.
There is also a complimentary business centre situated next to reception. Wi-fi connection has to be paid for should you use it in your room but using the business centre was great and a computer was always available.
The room was extremely comfortable and clean with a fantastic hairdryer not the usual kind that's attached to the wall! and there were lovely toiletries laid out in the bathroom along with robes and slippers.
We ate twice in Le Bar and the food was delicious with a great menu choice.
Overall, the whole experience was totally enjoyable and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Thank you for choosing Sofitel Washington D.C. for your visit to our nation's capital! I am thrilled to know you so thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us. As you probably know, our chef has created new seasonal menus for Le Bar as well as iCi Urban Bistro, so next time, be sure to check out the restaurant too! I hope to welcome you back again soon.
