Description: Our DC location opened its doors on May 26, 2011 -- it's our first location outside Manhattan! We serve the same Maine-style menu -- lobster, crab and shrimp rolls, and bisque and chowder -- in a Down East-inspired shack.

“Absolutely LOVED this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I was walking around the national mall all day and looking for a great place to eat. I actually had googled food trucks and Luke's Lobster showed up for some reason but man am I glad it did. The staff was friendly enough and the menu is straight forward. The food is unbelievable. Seriously. I got the sampler which included 1/2 lobster roll, 1/2 shrimp roll, 1/2 crab roll, a pickle, bag of chips, and beer for $22 I believe. GREAT food, the fish is fresh and clean. It is seasoned fantastically with Luke's special blend of spices and put in a buttered and toasted bun with some mayo. I am not a big fan of mayo and didn't even notice it in these. The rolls were over flowing with fish and it was absolutely delicious!

“Know Who You Are!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

The pure simplicity of Luke's has me deeply impressed. Their slogan: "From ME (as in the abbreviation for the state of Maine) to You" says it all. The menu? Clam chowder, lobster bisque, crab, lobster and shrimp rolls (okay, so shrimp rolls are really not a totally Down Maine food, but we'll give them a little scope creep -- it's only a little bit and shrimp, particularly breaded and fried, are definitely a Down Maine summer food).

Remember folks, my grand dad was a lobsterman, so I know what I'm saying here. Luke's has a simple idea -- eat in (for maybe 10 of you) or take out (which we did) equivalent of a lobster roll shack that you would find in almost any Maine seacoast town (e.g., Red's Eats, Wiscasset). A roll, chips and a pickle well priced at under $20 (you pay that for a roll on the wharf in Maine, so I'm hella impressed you pay that on F Street in the Penn Quarter...). Pretty darn fresh seafood, a hint of mayo, a little dribbled butter on a toasted hot dog bun -- nearly 110% authentic. I believe these folks have been to Maine.

Anyplace else it might be a hole in the wall, in DC it's Gourmet. Go for it!

“Fantastic Lobster Rolls!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

This is one of those hole in the wall joints that serves fantastic food. On our first visit 3 of us ordered the lobster roll and 1 ordered the shrimp roll. We all agreed our "roll" was awesome. The bread used for the roll is absolutely fantastic, as well as their secret spices. There is just the right amount of dressing on these rolls and huge pieces of lobster and loads of shrimp. Even before we finished this meal we agreed to come back again before we left town, and this even after 2 of us had to stand up eating our meal, as seating is very limited.

On our second visit we ordered 2 Noah's Ark, so we had a sample of all of their rolls: lobster, shrimp and crab, and we made sure to snag seats before we ordered at the walk-up counter. The lobster and shrimp rolls were our favorite, but the crab was very good too. My teenage kids really liked the Cape Cod chips and bottled sodas in addition to the rolls, and there was a nice, small selection of craft beers available. The prices are not cheap, but we certainly cannot get anything this good in our home town, so it was worth it. The employees are all really nice, helpful and efficient. We will definitely stop by Luke's when we return to Washington, DC.

“Expensive fast food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

This restaurant serves "fast food" - but charges restaurant prices. The food is decent (e.g. lobster sandwich) but over priced (e.g. $8-10 for a cup of soup).
