“A great honor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

This is a great honor for such a noble man. Dr. King really soars above in this beautiful memorial located just a short walk from the reflecting pool and Lincoln Memorial. Not to be missed!

“Nice I suppose”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

This memorial is nice and very pretty, there just isn't much to it. There's Dr. King, some quotes by him, the tidal basin, and that's pretty much it. It also is just designed oddly I think.

“Powerful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

This is a fairly new Memorial. It was the first time I went there. The words that they chose to engrave on the wall borders are good reflections on the struggles and the greatness of the man himself. It is separated from the rest of the Mall area (excluding the FDR memorial which is on the same peninsula) so it was a bit of a walk and I got a little confused on how to get there, but it was worth the effort.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We passed the entrance on the Trolley but intended to return make it the last stop. That time it was a crowd. We didn't make it back bad weather, So a friend picked us up for brunch on Sunday and drove us after. No people. Photographs do not convey the feeling you get in it's presence. It isn't that it looks so much like him. You must get the Ranger to talk. He loves it. There was much poetic thought behind every placement, color, and design. This monument gives due respect to the man and the era. I hope history books will record all the Ranger said and not just a foot note. My thanks to all who participated in the realization of this statement of history that I experienced and a appreciated follow up to the voice on the mall I heard at the March on Washington so many years ago. No shade or seats after the entrance. Busy site with people wanting to take pictures. Parking a premium. Good stop for everyone birth to wheel chair. Close to the water don't know flood risk. Ask why the stone is pink and why I have a dream is not on the wall.

“Interesting to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

It is a free tour (in the summer) guided by rangers and include this memorial. Very interesting to see, with the mount of despair and the stone of hope. You have a great view to the lake and good quotes on the walls.
